Instapaper did this long ago.

Not familiar with it, but from a cursory review they do not appear to be perfect substitutes.

The first thing I notice is that there is no need to register for Readability. It also seems that Instapaper sort of aggregates things for later reading, while Readability is used more "on the fly." Again, I didn't explore Instapaper in depth, so maybe it does do the things that Readability does.

Obviously, use whatever works for you, and next time I'll be sure to consult you before I post anything which might be helpful to other people.

How does it know what content to highlight and what content to remove?

Hell if I know. A friend of mine that works at Intel linked to it on his Facebook page. I really don't know anything about it's algorithms, and per their own description it is an "experiment." I wouldn't be too surprised if you were able to find some pages that confused it. Seems to work alright for the few pages I've tested it with, though.

first site I tried froze my browser for a little while, and then told me that readability was meant for individual pages, not home pages
