OK its about time for some analyst on our rigs 😀

Anandtech System Rigs

These are stats of the top choices by the users for their system rigs.

CPU Stats

AMD: 1282
Intel: 1776
VIA/Cyrix: 1
IDT: 5

Intel still accounts for 58% of rigs among Anandtechers, but AMD is getting very close with 42%. Hopeless for both Cyrix and IDT. With the current pathetic situation of P4, AMD will quicky overtake Intel as long as faster Athlons are kept pushing out.

Video Card Stats[

3Dfx: 127
ATI: 362
Nvidia: 809

Why no Matrox? I feel a litte disappointed as there are quite a few Matrox advocates here. Nvidia cards are the absolute majority present in 63% of our systems while ATI 28% is retaking some territories from Nvidia with the popular Radeon series. Quite surprised to see 3dfx only accounts for 9%. There should be many Voodoo 3 users out here.

Motherboard Stats

ABIT: 75
AOPEN: 43
ASUS: 796
MSI: 926
Tyan: 258

MSI and Asus account for 44% and 38% respectively, with Tyan taking 12% of the remainder. BIG surprise with Tyan. I thought they are only good for building servers and highend workstations.

Storage Stats

IDE: 2928
SCSI: 601

**Cough** This is a much more accurate statistic than the vote in another thread **cough**. Here IDE win hands down with whopping 83%

Internet Stats

Cable: 1220
xDSL: 722
ISDN: 52
Dial Up: 779
Wireless: 31
T1: 119
T3: 94
OC3+: 57
Other: 135

Another surprise. Over 70% of us are low ping bastards. 😀

OS Stats

Windows Variants: 2430
Unix Variants: 292
Mac: 4

No contest here. Microsoft owns almost 90% of us.

You've got to keep in mind not only the demographics of the people who hang out at this forum, but also the demographics of those who fill out a system rig page.

Tyan makes really good boards. Not much in concessions for overclockers, but we don't all care about that.

My only surprise there are the low ABit count....I think they sh*t in a box and call it a motherboard personally, but there seem to be lots of Abit advocates.

The 3dfx count isn't that suprising....the Voodoo3 was a huge seller, and I'm sure many of the current nVidia owners were V3 owners at one time, but the V3 is quite old relatively. And most of them would have upgraded by now, and 3dfx didn't really have a good successor to the V3...

I personally like the V3 better than the TNT2...but after that it's all nVidia, and most people here upgrade more often than to still own a 2 year old V3 (I however do not 😉)

I agree with Wingnut. Not everyone fills out that system rig thing (I didn't). Cyrix did much better than I would have thought. 😉

the vote in the other thread said ide won hands down as well.. what's the dif? Majority of users don't need scsi, nor could/would they pay for it...

Wow there's a lot of people on Cable.:Q

You are right Wingznut. But the statistic here DOES represent a wider range of us than some of the votes. With over 3,000 rigs registered it does mean something.

Don't forget many of us have multiple rigs.

here is something eye catching. Micron/crucial rule the charts

Memory Stats

Corsair: 54
Crucial: 465
Generic: 475
Micron: 348
Mushkin: 324

Give me two weeks and I will have my first AMD system up 🙂 Then I will have the best of both worlds, fastest P3 with the fastest tbird, and hopefully overclocked to 1.4+!
I am on dial-up still damn it. Radeon goes into my next system just because of these stats 🙂

yo for the memroy statics
I used infineon memory
and i believe alot of people are using it too
because compuwiz sold alot here.
why isn't it on there

I have 2 Infineon PC133 memory, both run beyond 150MHz CL2.

I think not to include Infineon is because it's a memory module maker, not a memory stick manufacturer (kinda like the relationship between Nvidia and Creative).

If Infineon has to be included, so will Hyundai, Hitachi, NEC, Samsung, Winbond and a lot others.

Any body interested in this?

IBM: 888
Fujitsu: 61
Maxtor: 794
Quantum: 312
Seagate: 201
Western Digital: 491

I thought Maxtor is portrayed as a POS manufacturer.

I'm guessing these stats came from the system page we filled out so we could
put a link in our sigs. I only included my main(best) system in the stats.
I have 3 to 5 others and 2 more that I've farmed out as internet machines to friends/family. These others are all lesser machines and wouldn't change stats too much. I'm just too lazy to put the rest down and most likely would have to crack open a couple of them to remenber whats inside. Some of the stats are suprising though.

Interesting info, to say the least. I am very surprised by the ABIT count too. I thought it would be more with the BH6, KA7, and KT7. If my KA7 is sht in a box, its the sweetest smelling sht I've ever smelled. 😉

Syborg1211: I find it funny that you have such a fast computer(s) but yet you're still on dial-up. I'm sure you would pay the price if it was offered in your area, or do you just not go online enough or use up enough bandwith?

I have an AMDK6-2 500, but my max up/download is 4,000kbps both ways. Thank goodness for big universities. 🙂

Most of those intel cpu's are Overclocked Celerons from back in the day, so of course the intel factor is going to be there.

man i must be one of the few people who actually own a gigabyte motherboard. I feel so left out... i cant even overclock. oh well my 1ghz tbird will be here soon.
