i went through my textbook and didn't find much/understand it.😕

What might happen if the cells of your body did not display any "self" markers on their surfaces?

anything will help.

thanks,
Jack

Without knowing what the hell you're talking about my first thought is "antibodies would destroy your body's own cells if the cells didn't have any 'self markers'".

well this is a question from my biology class. We are in a unit of basic cell structures.

anything will help.

Like King Nothing, I also think your Antibodies would make quick work out if that cell. But don't take my word for it, I gave up on biology 5 years ago.

so the anitbodies will work on the body's cells and baterias at the same time, destorying everything.

You would look like Scratchy in Scratchtasia, when he inhales all those microscopic Itchy's and they start chopping appart all his cells.

The body's defenses, T-cells, etc would attack the unmarked cell as if they were bacteria or virues.

more details on the T-cells.

Details are located within your book. Look around to find what they do to unmarked bacteria, that is essentially what they would do to cells w/out "markers". If I'm not mistaken, eventually, the Macrophages would come and gobble em up- After the T-cells lay the smack down, of course-

Life as you know it would cease to exist. You would be able to squeeze through doors or morph into whatever shape you wanted. It would be much like the bad guy in Terminator 2, except you wouldn't be made of metal b/c that's just ridiculous to think that you would.

Geez, why don't you do all his homework for him. Sometimes, teachers want students to employ a little deductive reasoning and logic to the reading to actually figure out some answers that aren't *GASP* completely spelled out word-for-word. Having everything spoon-fed to you is no way to learn.

antibodies wouldn't even have a chance to attack if there were no self markers. We'd die simply because receptors like that help enzymes and hormones know where to go to make us live.
