A read only file is usually a file that has either been modified by a user or program to no longer allow you to write to or change it.

All files on a CDROM are read only by nature because you cannot modify the contents of a CDROM (not including CDR and CD-RW)

You can try to change the attributes by right clicking on the file, doing a properties, and then unselecting "read only".
