With all the talk about ram compatability on this board, i was hoping someone could tell me if they have specifically tried any of the value ram on this board....

The ones im specifically looking at;

Muskin 512mb - $79
Corsair Value Select 512mb - $80
Geil Value Series 512mb - $84
Crucial 512mb - $90 (has been as low as $78)

Im not planning on overclocking, i just want something fast and stable with this board. Which do you use?

LOL its funny may. I just bought an abit kv8 along with an AMD 64 2800+ and i had the SAME exact question. I went and looked for reviews over the net and decided to go with the Geil. It had awesome reviews and i have been running it for a couple weeks and have been EXTREMLY happy with it. Awesome ram for the money. I believe the crucial has a CAS of 3 you definitly don't want that.

Oh im sure if you sure you can find someone out there that has issues with any hardware combination. No offense but some people just don't get it. Go read the reviews on the products at newegg. You will see people who have issues with mushkin, corsair, and crucial. Now go read the reviews on the geil value...very very few negative reviews and way more reviews than any of the ram types. I actually think im going to order a second stick in a few says to go to 1GB.

I was using cheap stick of memory along with 2 sticks of Consair memory. Computer ran find for 10 days and while flashing bios to 1004 it would not boot. First thought it was bad flash and later found it was bad cheap memory stick. Check memory first if you are having problems.

Currently using the GEIL and still going strong 7 months straight.

Although I have the regular K8V Deluxe (non-SE version).

Update: Since this thread was brought back from the dead I'll add by saying that I installed a stick of Mushkin (mentioned in OP) into my system following this post & its been running stably concurrently with the GEIL for a couple months to date @ 2.5-3-3-6.

Now between the 2, the GEIL can achieve tighter memory timings than the Mushkin seperately but as usual YMMV.

I just purcased the K8V SE Deluxe, an AMD A64 3200+ (CG core!! woohoo), and a 1GB pack of Mushkin Blue (2x512). Everything is working extremely well.

One note about the K8V that I think some people miss: The manual contains a chart that details which DIMMs you need to populate for various configurations (ex. 2 sticks at DDR 200 need to go in slots 1 and 3). Hope that helps.

I know this thread is old, but I just bought Ultra 512MB of DDR400 at tigerdirect for $60 + shipping. It's working fine.

I currently use 2 - 512 PC3200 sticks of Kingston value ram and it works great. I bought some Corsair Value ram but it won't be stable for more than an hour. Move the ram to my intel server and it hasn't had a reboot in 3 months. So, I stuck with the Kingston.

Just a quick update. I bought the Ultra 512MB (which is rebranded Nanya ram, btw). I am running it at 2-3-3-6 1T with no problems what so ever. I may have to relax the timings a bit, because I am hitting OC limits at this point. Not bad for $60 shipped!
