OK, this a repost of some issues I've been having that I can not seem to resolve. I'm running a HP Pavilion with an AMD 64 x2 Dual Core 4200+ processor with 250GB hard drive and 1024MB of memory on Windows XP service pack 2 and Direct X 9.0. I recently installed a 9800GTX card and BFG Tech 650 power supply. I've been tryin to run the new game Age of Conan and have been having some major problems. The game ran fine for one night after I installed the new card/power supply, but the next day I started having framerate issues and game freezing. Shortly after that, I started getting a fatal exception error on start up, but I could not get the details of the error because the system kept tryin to re-boot right after the blue screen comes up. Then I started getting a NTLDR missing error after manually powering down the system and trying to restart. I did a system recovery, reinstalled all my nvidia drivers and the game and it worked fine again for a little while. Then the framerate and freezing issues started happening again. On my last attempt to run the game, I received this error message:

d:\dev-env\build\branch_live\code\common\cheetah\gui\DXUTStripped.cpp (10899)

Internal driver error. - 0x88760827

I deleted the old drivers before installing the new card, but I don't know how to do the bios settings (which someone suggested in a previous post) so if someone could give me a breakdown on how to do that I would appreciate it too. Let me know if you need any other system info. Thanks.

How do I get the BSOD errors? I'm only minor computer savvy lol. And I just did a system restore, so the system should be clean yes? Even if that's not the case, I scan regulary with currently updated Trend.

You can check event viewer or you can go and view the minidump files. System restore is not "clean" it's just a restore of settings and such to whenever it saved it last.

Right click My Computer
Choose Properties
In the next menu choose Advanced
Choose Startup and recovery settings
In the next menu uncheck Automatically restart

Then the computer won't automatically restart when it blue screens and you can Google the error code.
Then just power off to reboot.

*sigh* it keeps getting better and better. Did a system recovery....again....and there is now 5 sectors on my hard drive that are unreadable and I'm getting a System Configuration error message when windows tries to start up. Didn't give much detail, it just prompted me to contact hp customer care (comp is out of warranty) and it a gave a code purple. Any clues?

system restore is something I'd turn off and never use again, too many trojans, viruses, and malware infect it, and mkae it a extremely big security risk. as to stop the reboot on BSOD, you will need to do the following.

1) Go to Control Panel
2) Double click 'System'
3) Click the 'Advanced' tab
4) Click the 'Settings' button under the 'Startup and Recovery' section
5) In the 'System failure' section next to 'Automatically restart' make sure the checkbox is unchecked
6) Save changes by clicking on 'OK'

Robisbell...ty for the info on this problem. Instead of re-installing windows or sending my comp back to HP, would it work if i took out the new graphics card and re-installed my old power supply, (so basically it woud be like from the factory again), or since I had to update my BIOS after installing the new card am I going to run into the same problem regardless?

you'll need to read the link I sent, there is a pseudo fix, no guarantees tho other than having a local authorized repair center do the rebranding.

Well, good news....HP is going to fix the code purple free of charge even though the comp is out of warranty. I don't even have to pay for the shipping =). However, HP asked me to take out the new card and put back in the old power supply, so what happens when I get my comp back and want to re-install the card and new power supply. Does the code purple only happen when you do a system restore or re-install or is it going to happen again as soon as I restart my comp after upgrading?
