Re-Partition Drive

Hello,

I am looking to free up space on a Dell computer for a friend. The drive is 120Gb and came partitioned with 20Gb on one partition and 100Gb on the other partition. Dell put the O/S on the 20Gb partition and now he ran out of space for programs and such.

I want to make the drive one partition of 120Gb.

Is there any way aside from re-formatting the drive to "free" up the other 100Gb without messing with the O/S and re-formatting???

Any help is appreciated......

1. Back-up your pal's data to an optical disk, external HD, USB drive or online storage.
2. Download EaseUS Partition Master (if the Dell is loaded with a Windows 32-bit OS)
3a. If the OS is 32-bit, install the EaseUS and resize the partition.
3b. Make sure you select the correct drive when resizing.

 
Data on the 100Gb partition is mostly pics/videos/music which he had to move there to conserve space.

I have a program called "Paragon Partition Manager v9.0" which I'm pretty sure will resize the partition. I'm going to move all of the "D" (100Gb) partition to a external drive and and resize the "C" (20Gb) partition to as large as it will allow me to. I'm keeping my fingers crossed so it won't corrupt the O/S partition!!!!

Anyone familiar with this software - Any comments/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
 
Paragon makes good stuff. I haven't used the non-server version of their partition manager, but the server version has an excellent reputation.

I always recommend making a backup of any important data before attempting something as invasive as repartitioning.
 
Modern partitioning software like the stuff from Acronis and Paragon has the ability to resize partitions that have data on them. There is NO NEED to remove the data. Backing up is fine, but you don't have to clear the drive!

Just tell it to free up some space at the beginning of partition 2 (100GB) and then resize partition 1 (20GB) to use that space. Easy.
