Firmware fixed this problem, and it wasnt a problem at all on the Alltel version.

My brother had a RAZR on Verizon and said the battery life was garbage. Friend of mine has a RAZR on Alltel and it works NICE! Battery life is very good.

Is there such a thing as extended life battery for these things? Are all RAZRs--whether they be V3, V3c, V3m--bluetooth compatible? If so, is it all the same? It doesn't sound like it is.

The new firmware from Verizon improves Battery life a lot. I ran mine mostly on the Alltel firmware. The V3M has great battery life.

I did it months ago. It's like skimming the bloat off a default Windows installation.

Does that mean it is easy? I have the opportunity to get the V3c for $190 shipped and it is a Verizon phone--I don't want to turn it into a useless brick.

Basically I'm asking is it eays to screw up?

I have not researched into the flash to Alltel much because well its an Alltel phone already. But from I've read its not difficult. There's tons of tutorials and info on it and a lot of people have done it. Of course there is ALWAYS a chance you can screw it up but I dont think its possibly to permanent screw it up and even then just follow directions and read a lot before doing it.


$190 retail isn't a bad price for a V3c. You don't want a contract? To me that is about the only way to get a phone at a decent price. Retail prices are just horrendous. My V3c from Alltel was $200 - $100 rebate back in May. I was worried about the rebate since they usually take 10-12 weeks, but I've checked the status and I'll have it any day now. So its only gonna be 5-6 weeks since the day I sent it out (my friend did it a week or two before I sent mine and he got his rebate weeks ago, like a month total).

And I would personally get the V3m if I were you. Its a more updated V3c with a memory card slot (I thought you wanted this?) and mp3 functionality.

So I'd head down to your Alltel store and see what they have and the prices compared to retail. If you are gonna keep the phone for a year or two you may as well renew the contract and get the price. I felt kinda dumb that I didnt sign a 2yr on my old phone cause it ended up costing $120 for a crap Kyocera that would've nearly been free since I kept the contract for 2 years (and re-newed for another 2).

So I'd check the Alltel contract price on a V3c. It may be under $100 now, and you could ask them about the V3m.
