Hey All,

I am currently have some problems and errors and lots of spyware on my system, so I think that I should just re-install everything and start all over with a fresh and formatted system. I currently have 2 harddrives, 1 10GB 5,400 and 1 40GB 7,200... Since I want to install windows on my 40GB will it give me a choice? Or do I have to set it up as master and slave? And you re-install windows by just putting in the cd and follow along correct?
 
You are given the choice of which drive to install on, and the option to delete the existing partitions and create new ones. You should set the 40GB drive as master on the primary controller, and the 10GB drive as master on the secondary controller, and a CD drive if you only have one as slave on the secondary controller. This is generally considered the best arrangement. Keeping the two hard drive from being on the same cable avoids any bottlenecks.

Not sure if the WinXP CD will autorun in XP and let you perform another setup. You may need to set your BIOS to allow booting to a CDROM. Then it will boot to the CD and you're on your way.

Normally I'd suggest a Repair instead of a wipe and reinstall, but with spyware and the like, it's probably best to erase it all.
 
yes i have tried ad-aware... also the system has lots of junk i don't need and really would be better off if i would format..
