I could not resolve my server service not starting dilema so I decided to re-install Win. XP on my IBM 300GL dinosaur. 550 mhz, 384 ram, 13 gig primary, 40 gig secondary HD.
I am re-installing over the existing without formatting. I have done this in the past with no problems. The process gets down to 13 minutes remaining, during the "Registering Components" phase, and I get an error message:

"unregmp2.exe - Entry Point Not Found -
The procedure entry point GetIUMS could not be located in the dynamic link library MSDART.DLL."

When this happens the computer locks up and I cannot even close or x out the error message box. I have to hit the main power button until the machine re-boots. It does this every time and when I re-start it resumes the installation. I cannot go into safe mode or even a command prompt. I also cannot go back the last known good configuration.
I have another XP SP2 cd I can use to try the re-install. I just need to start from scratch.
HELP! Please.

A quick search of this problem got me this:

The above error may occur when the Windows XP clean or a repair installation is running.
To fix this problem, please do the following:
1. Press SHIFT+F10 to bring up the command prompt.
2. Type TASKMGR.EXE in the DOS window and press enter. This will open the Task Manager.
NOTE: If this doesn't work, try CTRL+SHIFT+ESC.
4. In the Task Manager, select the error message window in the Application list and click End Task.
5. Click the Processes tab and select the process UNREGMP2.EXE and click End Process.
6. Exit the Command Prompt and resume the installation process.

Let me know if this works!
