Re-installing Win2k SP2 after applying some pre-SP3 patches? *FIXED*

I installed SP2 a while ago, and since then I've had some security updates and stuff installed from Windows Update.

I'm having a few problems and I want to re-install SP2. Is this alright to do, or am I just begging for trouble by doing this? The reason I'm re-installing is that even though my hard drive says it is in UDMA mode (in windows), I'm getting transfer rates of ~5mbps and CPU utilization of ~80%.

I've had this problem before and I'm not sure what I did to fix it the last time.

Just letting you guys know I installed it and nothing seemed to go wrong...

My problem didn't go away though.

What process is eating the CPU cycles?

BTW, when you reapply a service pack, you have to redo your hotfixes as well.

Ok, I got it fixed...

I decided to clock my P3 750 @ 840 (37MHz PCI) back down to 750, and then re-installed the disk controller. Everything is working fine. As soon as I bump it back up to 840 (112 FSB), the drive slows down again. Apparently my drive doesn't like the high PCI frequency.

Oh well... the faster disk is much better then the speed gains from going up an additional 90Mhz.
