Re-installing a system APK on a rooted, stock rom?

I made the mistake of trying to "improve" my wife's calendar app on her Droid Incredible by using a Titanium Backup copy of my calendar. Needless to say, it didn't work. I was scatterbrained that day and didn't make a backup of her original calendar app, now she's going without.

Her phone is rooted, using the stock rom, since she won't let me put Cyanogenmod on it.

I found the full image, extracted the Calendar.apk file from it and tried installing it, but it keeps dying out. I'm assuming because it's trying to install a system file. I've tried copying it to /sbin/app/Calendar.apk, but it doesn't show up in the main drawer as being recognized.

If this were Cyanogenmod, installing it wouldn't be that much of a problem, I think. Is there a way to re-install this without having to re-image her phone and start her customizations all over again?

You'll want to copy it to /system/app and also change the permissions to rw-r--r--. This can all be done using Root Explorer or ES File Explorer with the root option enabled. Once that's done, restart the phone and hope for the best. It SHOULD work.

Don't forget to either clear Dalvik cache or clear the specific Dalvik file for the Calendar.

I didn't think to check permissions, that could have been the problem then. Good reminder on clearing the cache too.

I'll start with that when I get off work tonight and see if that does the trick.

Found my problem. I was looking at the wrong rom. Right phone, wrong version. That's where my problem was.

Thanks for all the help!
