Re-installed Win8 and all my Chrome bookmarks are gone? Help

I re-installed Windows 8 and installed and signed into Google Chrome and my bookmarks are gone....how did this happen? I'm in deep doo doo if I can't get them back.

Help.

Not an easy thing to do - and you may stay in deep doo-doo. Reinstalling the OS is always risky for such recoveries. Before reinstalling, always back up. There is some hope if you can follow these suggestions:

I was unaware that re-installing windows had ANYTHING to do with my Google Chrome Browser.

You install Chrome and sign in, everything should be there.

You probably had bookmark sync turned off.

That is what I was going to state as well.

Also, that is why I ALWAYS do a bookmark backup!

I'm not following. A bookmark backup? Re-installing Windows has nothing to do with your Google Chrome browser. Re-installing the OS is risky? To my Chrome Bookmarks?

I shouldn't have lost anything, nor had to do a "bookmark backup". It should all be there when I sign in as I left it last time I was logged in.

It's been 4 day's. I've tried that. I'm not understanding why I lost ANY thing by re-installing Windows. It makes no sense, I can log into Chrome from a phone in another country and my bookmarks are they, but I re-install Windows and they are gone?

Tried uninstalling and reinstalling google chrome yet?

Wow. 5 minutes after typing that last post all my bookmarks suddenly appeared. Very strange. lol

That is strange. I've done the same thing with new OS install, then installed chrome, then had to wait for bookmarks to appear. But never 4 days. Only 30 minutes.

Glad its working now.

You can go to bookmarks>bookmark manager>organize and down at the bottom of the drop down you will see "Export Bookmarks to HTML file."

Just another way to insure one doesn't loose them or you wish to import them to a different browser.

But, its great that they appeared again! Kind of worrisome though.
