Read what I actually wrote. I said, in so many words, that there's no point to "disabling" the remote trunk latch on the inside since once they're in they can easily get to the trunk via the rear seat/latch, just as easily as through the remote latch which you disabled. Why not just lock the remote latch from the inside instead of ghetto rigging it?Originally posted by: Tsunami982
answers to your questions:
ok... as for why we dont just pull the back seat down and get into the trunk? the 2003+ accords require a key to unlatch the backseats.
as stated above, the trunk release latch on the floor has been disabled (if you want to know why read my last post)
also, you cant just leave the key in the trunk keyhole because there is no trunk keyhole. she told me she unlocked it using her keys, went in a grabbed some groceries (with keys in hand), and accidently left the keys in there when she closed the trunk lid.
ok guys im actually trying to get someone to answer my question. if you arent going to add something remotely constructive (ie. who puts their keys in their trunk?, why would she take the key out of the trunk keyhole?, classic pwnage) im really not interested. but thanks for the couple people that left something constructive.
No trunk keyhole? Picture from the 2003 accord sitting in my driveway.
You want advice, but if someone came asking you how to open a can of coke with a jackhammer wouldn't you just ask the person why they don't just use their finger? Get the original key first, THEN have one made like a normal person.
Edit: Must be a coupe I guess...I see they don't appear to have trunk keyholes...but regardless, that doesn't really apply to my point(s).
yes i see in your original post (that you have since edited) that you called me a retard for thinking i dont have a keyhole but see that you realized that my gf's is a coupe and really doesnt have one.
all i need to know is how much it would cost to rekey/recut a used key+remote from ebay. before you say it, yes rekey means either to replace/change the settings on the locks OR recutting/replacing an already cut key.
i already have the key out but i wanted to do this because this happens so frequently that i rather have an extra instead of calling a locksmith again (i have mentioned this several times prior but apparently some people dont like to read).
if anyone has an answer to this it would be well appreciated... if you have a stupid comment like "who locks their keys in their trunk" i really dont care to hear it.
Anandtech can not tell you everything in life. Pick up the phone and call a locksmith/ keycutter. Even if anyone HAD done what you are asking, the local places around you may charge much higher or lower for the same service. I think your best bet is to just go to Honda and get another key. By the time you buy the remote off Ebay, pay for shipping, program it, and pay some one to assemble it you are going to be approaching the cost of a Honda key.
Then what if it doesn't work? Your next post will be OMG I FOLLOWED ANADTECH'S ADVICE AND WHEN I PUT MY KEY IN THE CAR EXPLODED!!!!!!!!!!!ONE
