Read and reread what seems like a hundred posts on this issue. Finally, I bought a Samsung SyncMaster 955DF from buy.c0m. It was within 2 bucks of Onvia and Egghead includeing shipping. The $30 dollar rebate swung me to it over the 950P.

Going to a 'Flat Screen' really takes getting used to! Upgraded from a MagInnovision DJ700 [17 incher]. The screen looks concave to me as I'm so used to the convex of a typical monitor.

I got a replacement for the first one as it had a minor scratch on the screen. It was evident only on a white background, but I wasn't about to accept it. Much to my surprise, buyc0m paid for shipping and even credited the $30 off coupon without having to ask!

The text is crisp and I get no problem at all with certain parts of the screen being 'out of focus.' The adjustments are a bit confusing until you get the 'hang' of it. There are so many! After a brief run through of the adjustments, trying out various settings, it becomes easy. Once adjusted, you rarely will need further tweaking with the exception of...

The brightness and contrast are adjusted by plain 'ole analog knobs rather that the onscreen interface and it is refreshing to see a mfg that thinks this can vary and needs to be adjusted frequently.

As per some fellow users, the screen is not exactly flat and does have a noticable curve near the corners. As time goes on this becomes less noticable.

I'm running 1280X1024 and large icons. Some authentic AnandTech RC5 wallpaper makes for and exceptional desktop.🙂

For about $300 you cannot go wrong with this monitor! Compared to the DJ700 there is very little heat coming out the back....until a little Q3A fraggin' on line that is!😉
