Re-arranging desktop icons?

My current desktop icons are movable but will reset to a square shape after I restart or shutdown the computer. Usually when I first reboot the desktop has my original layout, flashes a second later and re-arranges back. Auto-arrange is not checked in desktop and Im currently running vista 64... Any suggestions?

Also if anyone knows, my touchpad seems to no longer support "tapping" to register as a mouse click. I now have to click the left, right buttons below the touchpad. Any reasons why this is turned of, not working?

For your touchpad, make sure the software/drivers are installed and up to date. Sounds like you may need to reinstall them. For your resolution issue, it sounds like you have a program in startup that could be causing the resolution to change momentarily.

There's a $5 program called IconSaver that will enable you to place your icons where you want and will KEEP them there. Google it.

Go here and download ICON_RESTORE>EXE. It is freeware and works great. I have used it for two years+ in XP and a year in Vista. (Vista 32 that is, can't speak for 64. Lots of things don't work in it.
