Re-Applying Paste

This is what I want to do: Take off my HSF, unlock my xp1600 agoia, and get the HSF back on without loses my cooling. I am not sure, but would not the thermal conductivity drop by a decent amount if I took the HSF off then put it back on, even with another thin layer of paste. What I am wondering is: how exactly do you completely, or close enough to it, clean off the HSF and CPU core, what kind of stuff do I need to get, and will it cool as good as it did before? If it will not cool as good (I assume it will not), how much of a difference will there be?

Im not compltely sure what you mean but the best way to clean the HSF and CPU is probably nail(paint) remover or petrol. If you put the same kind of thermal compound as you had before the result should be as good or even better if the layer is thinner.
