RDRAM + DDR Combination?

Lets say i'm using two different types of RAM; RDRAM and DDR.
Would they be compatible under the same mobo?

No, RDRAM is RAMBUS, which does not operate anything like DDR. DDR works on an individual basis, you can hvae one stick do the workload. RAMBUS has to be installed in pairs because it requires 2 sticks to complete the circuit.

Besides that they function on a totally different level, they're very different types of RAM.

Either get another stick of DDR or get another RAMBUS to complete the circuit, but don't try both in the same board at the same time, could be disasterous.

What mobo do you have that has slots for RDRAM and DDR? I've seen board with slots for SDRAM and DDR, but as those two types are electrically incompatible a board wouldn't boot with both types in. I'd imagine your scenario would have the same result.

Ah, I wasn't so sure wether two different memory modules would be compatible.
I was asking because a friend is going to upgrade, just wanted to make sure.

Anywho, thanks for the help 😛
