If I was logged in to my box via RDC and rebooted it, will I have to get to that box and physically log in before I can log in via RDC again?

you shouldnt have a problem logging in after a reboot...at least I never have. Are you experiencing this issue?

Yes, I rebooted the box and I can no longer get in. It says client computer cannot connect. Unless my IP address just changed but that would be really odd.

What if the computer is sitting at a login screen with multiple users? Would I normally still be able to log back in?

I used to run into that same issue with my Win2k server box. After a reboot, I had to log onto the machine from the physical terminal before I would be able to termserv into it. Unfortunately I have no idea what caused that or how to fix it since I just recently reloaded the machine to Win2k3 server and haven't had that problem since. =(

Just out of curiosity, is that machine connected to the network via copper or wifi?

It's hard wired, not even behind a router. Firewall is setup. The only thing I can think of is that my IP address changed lol.

it's a m$ bug...

you'd have to download reboot.exe from systernals...or winutilities and go into cmd and run reboot.exe -r for 2K. either that or install tweakui and have the computer auto-login.

hope this helps.

Not a bug I've ever run into on the few hundred servers I typically log onto but stranger things have happened I suppose.

What OS is the "server" and why doesn't it have a static IP if it is actually a legitimate server?
