Up at work we have a dedicated linux RTCW server. I have no admin mods installed on it, I just use rcon. The problem I am having is that when I do the status command it returns nothing to the console. It wont list anyones username, ip, clientid, etc. However, sometimes it just randomly works. It will list out all the users in order by clientID and all their information. Well unfortunately it is not easy to kick someone based on username because of the colors, spaces, and characters they add in them. This is part of the reason there is a clientID. If the status command doesn't work I can't kick by clientID because I don't know it. Luckily I have 2 computers - one that I play wolfenstein on and the other to monitor the server via the screen functionality of the linux servers. So I can go to the comp that I am not playing the game on and kick people. However, this is annoying because I have to get up and walk across the room. In the mean time on the other one I am getting mowed down. Is anyone else having this problem with the status command on linux or win32 servers? Any information would be useful. Also, the banclient command doesn't ban people. I mean it just doesn't work. I ban someone and it says client banned but they are able to return right back. Is there anything I need to do to get this working as well? I am not very fluent with Linux but I know I could block someone via IP tables. This however is kind of a pain in the butt as opposed to just using the ban feature of Wolfenstein. Maybe rcon isn't the way to go to admin the server? I really don't want to add mods though because I like to keep the server simple and original.
