TV manufacturers are selling TV's for more "END $$" today then they ever did before!
It used to be, you spent $500 on a 25" TV, and it easily lasted 10-15 years.
Cost per year, $50 if it lasted only 10 years.
Now you spend $220 for a 25" TV, and it's rough getting 3 years out of the cheap ones without them needing a repair. Cost per year, $73.
There still are some TV's that will last 10+ years, but not cheap priced ones.
The manufacturers have realized they can get more money out of you by selling sets cheaper, but having you replace them More often.

Most repairs are under $100. Many buyers that spent $220 on a TV, think that it is worth it to spend $100 on fixing it for a few reasons.
#1. They can not get another 25" for $100.
#2. The 1 year old broken TV is still brand new in there mind.
#3. Somehow they think this was a fluke, and the repaired set should last 10 years??
#4. The buyer was too cheap to buy a good TV in the first place, and can not afford $220 for another.
