RC5 stats for the 27th... (okay, I got my WU's back)

(I have the blocks back now, as you'll see if you read on down. I'd delete the post, but IMHO, I made a couple of points worth noting) :)

Well, the saga continues...

Now for the 3rd day in a row, I'm missing 50-70% of my RC5 WU's. I can understand once... I can tolerate twice... but when it reaches 3 days in a row and there's no concrete acknoledgement from D.Net that they even know anything is wrong, that's when I start to get a bit miffed.

Here's my solution... until I see credit for the blocks I'm missing, I'm not submitting any more. I know I'm not the worlds largest RC5 cracker, but I figure that a lot of folks might just do the same. Perhaps when they see the WU rates going into the royal crapper, they will figure out what's up.

I've got a couple of thousand blocks in the sneaker machine and a pProxy at work that I can set to an impossibly high flush threshold with a few keystrokes. I can wait it out and we'll just see who wins this little "staring contest".:disgust:

Moose posted in three threads earlier and said there was a problem with one of Dnet's proxies.

I've lost ~60% of my load also. I thought my herd was sick or suffering some other ailment. I guess it's not my cattle :)

Damn, still sucks.

What the HEY?!? Well Dale, you're right..... now. Funny thing is that I just checked the stats about 5 minutes before I made my post and it showed that they were updated as of the 27th yet only showed me having credit for 268 WU's. :p

Jeez, all the signs that the stats run was complete were there, yet evidently it wasn't done. How very confusing.... <sigh>.

Spencer, as far as what I said about acknowledgment, I stand by my words. I admit, I finally (after scanning through nearly 40 threads) found one mention of the Madison proxy being constipated and not flushing to the keymaster. However, to be frank, there's just to many threads on this board for a person to read them all and still have a life. Until I really went looking HARD for a reference to a problem, I didn't find any. Consequently, nearly everyone that is a long-timer to D.Net knows that since they don't have any sort of "late-breaking news" page, when you need info on what's up, you go to the .plans on the site. Never, not once, was there any mention of this problem and a possible cause in the .plans. I checked the proxy status page and didn't see anything amiss before I made that post (the madison proxy had been rebooted apparently 11 hours prior).

In short, I did EVERYTHING that D.Net could possibly expect a user to do when something is wrong and I didn't find squat to put my mind at ease. The stats run showed EVERY appearance of being done and yet things were still screwed up (at that time) with my stats.

Now honestly, I don't want to offend, tick off or otherwise bother anyone with what I've said here, it's just that the lack of communication from the folks at D.Net is an old, old problem in my opinion and it really gets me steamed. I know that they are all volunteers and no one is paying them to do any of this, but still, I don't think a few sentences added into a .plan when the problem was discovered is asking too much of them when you balance it against all the work that their participants put into their projects. It's the only timely form of mass communication that they seem to want to use, I just wish they'd use it.

(sorry if some of you feel that I just beat this subject to death, but sometimes you just have to rant a bit before you feel better)

let it all out.... ;) I thought you may have read it during the changeover

it is real screwy sometimes while it is updating,

naw you havent beat it to death..your frustrations are mirrored by many..

it will get better.. then as it grows.. it will worsen.. and the cycle starts again

<<However, to be frank, there's just to many threads>>

good point, it would be nice if we could had a MOTD at the top of the page that had important info like that..

Sorry friend but we from DPC just needed a few more units (it's a hard time) ;)
Just kidding, I hope you'll get the units back... (but if I was a rc5-unit, I would run very fast to DPC! :)

Dale & Spencer,

Just wanted to drop a quick note to say that I'm glad you guys didn't view my post as a flaming lump of troll droppings and respond accordingly. :) Sounds like you at least understood where I was coming from.

You're cool in my book and don't let anyone tell ya different. ;)
