RC5 Question???

By default, RC5 runs with a Low priority, but on computers that just do RC5, (and some for of NT), the priority can be set higher from the Task Manager. Unfortunately, when the computer restarts, it's set back to LOW. I start the program from a shortcut in my startup folder. What I need to know is, Is there a switch that can be used in the shortcut to automatically set the priority higher when the program starts???
 
All you'd accomplish by tweaking the priority settings is making your computer slow to respond. The Dnet client is very good about managing CPU time; so when there is some time it can get, it will.
 
Virge, Dave, I know it doesn't really matter and that the client does a very good job at managing is priority, I'm just asking because I'm just curious as to whether it can or can't be done...
 
There is a switch.. in NT4's DOS, that allows you to set priorities of applications when you start them. I belive the command is 'start'..
So in NT.. go Start, Run. and type 'start /?'

That will give you a list of switches, then create a batch file with the correct syntax... and put it in the startup folder.. I guess

SpaceWalker - have you tried changing the priority via the performance options in the client config? By default, I believe it is "0" and can be set all the way up to "9". If you set that to maybe 4 or 5, it might do what you want without changing it via task manager.
 
Just for kicks, i changed 2 of my clients to above normal priority. I got then flushing to thier own perproxy. the perproxy's rate went up from 4.0 mkeys/sec to 4.2 mkeys/sec.

So maybe there is something to it... 🙂

Can someone with a herd put a few cows the same way with their own perproxy to see if they also get an increase?

Changing the Priority from in the client config makes the client work kinda wacky, and the program still start with a low priority
