I have a birthday wish. Its in october (in the middle - not saying when 😉 ). I'm a greedy selfish guy. I'm telling you guys what I want for my birthday. I want TA to be 1st 😉

<< did you include any kind of groth curve in these? >>

It's just linear projections based upon daily returns. The spread sheet formulas just add the daily returns to the previous days' totals. The dailies seem to have returned to nominal after DCP's MF6. The projection dates are going to float of course. But based upon yesterday's returns, this is what could happen. I have not included any projected growth. I'll keep plugging in the dailies and look for any growth trends. In the time being, it's just emperical data. I'll update this thread every day or so.

you should avg the last 7 days at least. I think strates was keeping a daily running of how long till we pass /. and since mondays are usually the biggest, and the weekends are usually low, its best to avg a whole week.

It's coming. Need to populate the spread sheet first. As I originally posted, the initial projections were based on one day only.

Feisters, Very well done! A nice way of presenting things. I have the data since September 11th and can send it to you if you PM me an email address.

But in the meantime, here are my predictions based on a 7 day moving average:

Oct 13th DPC takes 3rd place
Nov 1st TA takes 1st place
Nov 13th TA passes 500M
Dec 11th Russian Team takes 4th place

Jan 1st DPC takes 2nd place
Jan 3rd Hack Zone takes 5th place
Aug 7th Hack Zone takes 4th place
Nov 22nd Hack Zone takes 3rd place
Dec 28th Russia takes 3rd place

Anybody want to take bets on how long it will take before we get a little troll in this thread???

I can just smell something.... tick, tick, tick

I'm sorry but I just have to make a comment here.

Dutch Power Cows projection:

Slashdot.org: 81 days
AnandTech: 115 days
Team EvangeLista (Macs Rule! 🙂: 15 days

This is how many days it takes to catch up on a team from now 27 sept 2000.

So, according to my projection we will take the first place shortly after AT does.

Sorry...had to post this...couldn't resist.

Rax-

It's difficult to see the future with your head so far up your arse!:|
As far as not being able to resist, try harder next time!:|

Osmo.

DanC, You have a good nose!

Funny, it didn't look so big in that picture. <GRIN>

Again, I wonder where they get their numbers from. Based on a 7 day moving average:

Slashdot.org: 96.5 days
AnandTech: 178.5 days
Team EvangeLista (Macs Rule! 🙂: 16.8 days

As at September 26th stats run.

Who has the list of dates that people chose for the TA 1st Place lottery? I'm pretty sure I remember picking 10/30. 😀

Don't let DPC get ya down... just compare their pathetic rankings in Seti, OGR, and Gamma Flux with TA:

Seti:
TA: rank 16, 267905 work units, 416 members
DPC: rank ???, 74 work units, 2 members

Gamma Flux:
TA: rank 1, 270938 work units, 115 members
DPC: rank 378, 330 work units, 2 members

OGR-25:
TA: rank 2, 6916121 work units/Gnodes, 414 members
DPC: rank 19, 1162553 work units/Gnodes, 312 members

Those stats are sad because DPC is getting very powerful ...

Time for another recruiting thread of for some more computer hunting 🙂

DPC is only really powerful at one thing. they are doing well at that one thing, but who knows, the contest could be over tomorrow and the team wouldn't thrash the slash. (which would be definite suck). then where will DPC be? really far behind again.

Imagine this.. RC5 is finished.. 3500 members of DPC are switching from RC5 to OGR... can you imagine that?? I think that the OGR competition will be over in a few weeks if that happens.. 🙂
