I was looking through my old parts and I have enough to put together a K5 100 box, so, I was wondering how I might expect it to do running the DOS client. Would I be better off putting Windows on it or would it be more efficient with just DOS?
I have absolutely no experience with any flavor of Linux so I'm afraid that's not my best option.....🙂
Once I get it running maybe I'll start playing with Linux since it's just gonna sit there cracking 24/7 anyway, but for the time being I'd prefer to go with something I'm more familiar with...😀
Trust me, I can't even spell Lynux, but I'm running Klinux. 🙂 It truly is pretty much idiot proof and extremely stable. I think the latest version even allows you to save configuration settings in the event of a reboot.
Klinux is great and easy to use. But you need a network to run it. DOS client works great as well. Runs abit faster than windows as well due to lower overhead. I use it on my racks that don't have nic cards.
