Im running WindowsXP and since the computer has multiple users, I have RC-5 running as a service. On top of that, its set to buffer to ram only. So the only interaction between the client and the hard drive occurs when the client is initialized.

Im wondering, if I put the computer in stand-by mode, (to save power, and wear on the hard-drive) will the client still operate? or is everything halted?

I can't help except by bumping. If you are just shutting down the hard drive then it should continue to work fine but it won't save the results until you activate the HDD. Fairly obviously a short power loss will erase any work not saved.
