Anyone use the mach3 type of razors with the replaceable blades?
How long does each blade last for you? Mine used to last about 3 shaves before getting too dull to use, but last night i used one that I had only used once previously and it was dull.

for the price you pay for these things, shouldn't they last longer?

Either you have been getting defective blades or your face is as hard as a rock b/c those blades should last way longer than 3 shaves. They're pretty expensive replacements so I doubt they were designed to only last 3 shaves.

Um... I'm still wondering how you're supposed to tell that they're too dull?? I use the fusion razors and have been using the current blade for close to a month, though I only shave every 2 or 3 days. Still shaves just fine with no nicks & cuts.

I've heard more than once that some of the Mach3 blades that sell on e-bay are counterfeit.

If money is a concern, I guess you could try a DE. I replace my blades once a week and they cost at most 50 cents each including taxes and shipping. I got sick of how quickly I wore out the Mach3 blades and the huge expense myself.

Through presents, offers and all that, I have several two-blade razers, a mach-3, a wilkinson-sword quattro (4 blades) and the new 5 blade gillete with vibrating crap.

I'm not the most hairy guy, but I really do prefer the simplicity of the mach 3. It's better around the nose, etc.

Everyone I know that has tried the 5 blade gillette (fusion?) prefers the mach 3 instead. I think 5 blades is just too much.

My mach3 is perfect!

My brother got me some cryogenically treated fusion blades. They are supposed to last a long long time. www.greatrazors.com I don't know how freezing a blade is supposed to make it last longer. I guess I'll find out.

I dunno, I got a free Fusion on a promo, and I actually like it better than my Mach 3. The head is bigger and it's a little hard to get the precision areas (and the blade on the back is useless)... but for the larger areas it has a lot less drag and it provides a closer shave.

Having said that, I still use my Mach 3. The blades for the 3 are expensive, but it's highway robbery for the Fusion blades. I refuse to slap down $30 just for replacement heads.

I think I'm gonna go old school once this pack of blades runs out... either get a DE or even a straight.

:Q $30! Wow, I thought $10 for the mach 3 was a lot... I didn't realize they were so expensive! Definitely sticking with what I've got now!

I was using the mach 3 blades. But now I'm using a electric razor. The fusion razors do like nice to have, but the replacement blades are way to expensive.

My bet is that your g/f is using it too. I discovered mine were only lasting 3-4 shaves (I shave 2-3 times a week) and was BIGTIME wtf until I caught her.

There is an answer to blades that dull fast. I use a product called RazorMax, however their website is down, but its like an oil that preserves the sharpness of the blades. Also, you should dry off the blades when you are done shaving and keep it dry overnight.

I just got 48 Schick Quattro blades for $49 shipped on ebay, so there are better places to look.

Just checked Amazon on the prices. An 8 pack of the fusion cartidges was 16.45 and an 8 pack of the Mach 3 cartridges was 17.43

I used the Mach 3 for about 2 years and just recently tried the Fusion on recommendation from a coworker. I love the Fusion. The blade lasted a whole month shaving 3-4 days a week compared to lasting 2-3 weeks with the Mach 3. Like someone else said, the blade on the back is worthless, so shaving under the nose is a bit tough at first, but you get used to it pretty quick. The Fusion definitely has a lot less drag and gives you a bit smoother shave.
