thank god for deviance!
What chu talkin' bout willis? Software aside, this guy stole hundreds of thousands from cisco. Do you think that you could go into a bank late at night, steal half a million, and get only 50 months? Plus, he's pirated more software than you can shake a stick at. Why do we think white collar crime is so fine, and give the commiter a mere slap on the wrist?Originally posted by: JonnyBlaze

agreed. They seriously need to figure out this whole "cyber crime" thing and get it under perspective. I don't know I read this example on here, but it's stuck in my memory for a long long time.Originally posted by: JonnyBlaze

RTFA; he also stole $100K+ worth of Cisco equipment and committed mail fraud. The 50 months isn't just for pirating.Originally posted by: PoPPeR

Walk into Tower Records (or some other place, seeing as how Tower is bankrupt), steal a CD - if first time, get your parents called, MAYBE charges filed against you if you're unlucky. Small fine at worst
Download that same CD off kazaa and get caught? Theoretically, what is it? $250,000 for every song or something?
Yeah I think that's most likely the case, but it doesn't help that sites are reporting different news. Businessjournals concentrates more on the cisco part while gamespot concentrates more on the pirating part.Originally posted by: hjo3

Yeah, well they only gave BF1942 an 8.8, so they obviously don't know what they're doing anyway...Originally posted by: PoPPeR
