Its not wireless. Fail.

Yea, gotta agree with this. My current setup has my 360 tucked away behind the TV. While this controller would have plenty of cable, I've grown accustomed to wireless controllers.

Would buy one day one if they're ever allowed to make a wireless variant.

That has always been a weak justification, and never more so than now with today's wireless technology. Anyone who claims to notice any lag with wireless controllers or mice is deluded.

I always thought that the reason that there weren't any 3rd party wireless controllers is because Microsoft refuses to license any company to do so.

Weak justification? Its aimed at performance, so it makes sense. Yeah most people wouldn't be able to tell, and considering the loss of precision elsewhere (namely, joystick control of aiming instead of some optical setup such as a mouse), yeah, its a bit incongruous, but so what. Its like any product aimed at getting that last extra performance.

You have to realize though, that with each step there's often a bit more "lag" added, and it can add up. Input lag from the device, then you might have a bit of lag from a receiver, then you have the lag from your display, and so on. Definitely there's other aspects that easily trounce this being an issue (how responsive the game is for instance), but, it'd be nice to see a focus on it at every step of the way. Otherwise we might end up with the responsiveness of the stock Wii remote as an acceptable standard (granted, that's not due to the wireless).

I think that was the problem early on, Microsoft wanted all the money for accessories themselves, but they've since been willing to license.

This controller looks like it's marketed toward ricers anyway, so it's no wonder they'd use wired. Remember, this is the same company that continued to make PS/2 ball mice for ages for really shaky reasons. Typical ricer crap.

My rock band instruments say hello.

MS might have some sort of rules against gamepads, but it's not controllers.

Whatever the reason, whether it's licensing or performance, wired = fail. I'm sure they know this, so I suspect it's not wireless because they can't, not because they don't want to.

Still a fail though. Notice how they put the wire last of the bullet points...any earlier and people would just stop reading.

That being said, I'd certainly be interested in a high performance wireless controller.

Pro gaming benefit from wired controls. PERIOD.. No pro player uses a wireless mouse / keyboard.

Look for ANY fighting game pro players that use a wireless controller..

They all use wired joysticks,, or wired pads.

FPSes are not as input intensive as other games, so if that's all you play, than perhaps you'll never notice.

However, other genres require input precision down to 1/30th of a second. THIS is where wired makes ALLLL the difference.

Rarely even 1/60th of a second timing is used, but that's just too fucking hard.
