At first I had it plugged into a powered USB 2.0 hub. So now I've got it plugged directly into the m/b USB socket. I moved everything else to the hub, but no change. I contacted Razer, but the only response so far was a week ago. They only said a case has been submitted. A 450watt p/s should be fine for this setup. Any suggestions?

HEY I JUST SAW SOMETHING!!!

My dads mobo: EPoX EP-9NPA+Ultra

I have the same problem, but with an ASUS SLI-Premium.

I just plug/unplug it to get it to work.

alpha88: So you just unplug and plug it back, with no reboot?

p.s. dude...what a "Lurker" you are. Stop reading and type something for a change! JK! I'm the same. ;)

Mine started doing the same with my Abit NF7-S board. I also have to unplug and replug it back into the USB hub.

Same thing I do,FYI happens on both of my PCs with different PSUs and hardware, think the problem is the Razor is designed to be at the very limits of USB specs so that causes the problem.

mem: Good info! It doesn't make me feel any better about my new mouse, but good info non the less.

duffman1: Hmm....then how are you able to run a 7800GTX with a crappy p/s?

Happened with my Diamondback, and with the Copperhead too. Only rarely though, and unplugging it then plugging it back in always works...

It is not a PSU problem,I have it happening on both my Enermax 430w PSU and my Hiper Type R 580w PSU with both my Epox and DFI boards, blame lays squarely on Razor mouse itself with this one guys.

Pretty sure it is the design limits of the Razor mouse within USB mode.

Below is the response I just got from Razer suggesting I try a beta firmware upgrade. The firmware file that was attached is Version0617i.s19 (0.03 MB). The link however, shows detailed instructions on firmware upgrading a CopperHead mouse which has some sort of reset button on the bottom that my DiamondBack does not. Also, I can't find a "Upgrade Firmware" tab in my DiamondBack software as detailed in the link. And yes, I am using the latest Diamondback driver from Razer. Well, I'm at work now so I can't do any playing around with it. Still...I'm a little confused as to what I'm supposed to do with this file. Maybe some of my Anand brothers can enlighten me.

"Hi,

Attached is a copy of the latest beta firmware which may help resolve your issue. Do let us know if you have problems after installing it.

More info can be found here.

Ok I read that this might work.

1. Right-click on the "My Computer" icon and open its "Properties" page.
2. Select the "Hardware" tab.
3. Click the "Device Manager" button.
4. Click on the "+" sign of the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers".
5. Right-click on any "Root Hub" and select "Properties".
6. Select the "Power Management" tab and ensure that "Allow computer to turn off this device to save power" is not checked.
7. Click the OK button and do this for every "Root Hub".

I have this same problem with my Razer, and I followed those instructions... it didn't help very much, it still happens every week or so.

Wish mine only happened once a week! Mine happens about once every other day. But...I may reboot my machine a bit more often than the normal user.

Mem I'll try your fix, but still not sure what to do with this file Razer sent me(see above). The instructions they linked with it seem to go with the Copperhead product. Still waiting on a response from Razer.

*UPDATE*

Here's the instructions I was sent from Razer.

"Please check the following.

Are you using an antivirus program such as Norton, if so please disable it for the install.
2. Check to see if there are any folders created by the install. By default they will be in C:\Program Files\Razer\Copperhead if so delete them.
3. Check for any registry keys that may have been created and delete them.
Go to Start\ Run\ type in ?regedit? without the quotes. Locate the following keys and delete them. Please keep in mind that it is possible not all these keys are on your system.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{85C6CE1E-2A22-4C5A-A8A1-9DBFBEA81DE1}
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Karna
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse\razer
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Karna\Razer
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MenuOrder\Start Menu2\Programs\Razer
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\razertra.exe
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and look for Razer entry. Delete if present
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{D6D5CFB3-7095-4073-B6B7-B7E909838C57}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\TerraTec Electronic GmbH
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\CriticalDeviceDatabase\hid#vid_1532&pid_0001
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\Eventlog\System\razerusb
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\Razerlow
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\razerusb
Close out the registry editor and restart the machine.
5. Check for C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{D6D5CFB3-7095-4073-B6B7-B7E909838C57} and delete
6. Shut down computer, leave off for 30 seconds and turn back on.
7. Download and install the drivers from the Razerzone.com site"

I'm not sure how this will help as I'm already running the current driver from their website.

Hmm...I'm going to give Mem's fix a try first before I do this registry digging.
