Razer diamondback dissapoints

The shape (took me a while to realize) is intended for only two fingers over the top of the mouse - instead of the standard three on other mice. No room for three fingers to rest on the top. Other than that the mouse sits really low and flat on the pad - Is it supposed to be aerodynamic ??? I can get used to it - but I have to say the Intelli by its side feels like a 5 star health spa by comparison.

My big problem is that I also have to work (graphics apps) and here it doent work well. Probably a faulty unit but on really delicate tracking or tracing it just isnt able to properly record my movement when in a diagonal - down and to the right - movement.

I'd like to know - anyone who owns one - try creating a simple circle in any sketch or drawing app and then try to track along the circle with your Diamond back - I'd like to know if its just my unit.

If I was only playing games i'd probably never have noticed this issue. And i'm picky.

Ok - HAve found the culprit. (no thanks to tech support at Razer who sent me a few precomposed automated replies mentioning some fixes coming up in future driver packs)


The issue: the original windows mouse control center still applies even after full Razer customizer install. Having the "enhance precision" option checked on - apparently creates a problem for the Razer mouse - so anyone that might have forgotten to switch it to Checked off (precision enhacement thingy) - DO so. Thats it.

As for your ergonomics problem, you should've gotten a Logitech MX500/510/700/900 or 1000.

It's a gaming mouse, it's not meant to feel like a 5 star health spa soldier its meant to keep you alive when those (digital) bullets are comin down range! You aint supposed to be laxed boy!

It does take some gettin' used to but it is a really good mouse.

I cant make a perfect circle in a drawing program (freehand) becuase I have the software set to different verticle and horozontal speeds. If you are really serious about drawing, use a pen and tablet. Thats why they were invented.

piromaneak was correct. The diamondback is for nailing headshots in Counterstrike when you have a dozen gunslingers running around, shooting back. My hands dont seem to have a problem resting 3 fingers on top of it. I think you should stick with the Intellimouse if thats what you feel comfortable using. I only made the switch to Razer for games.

I've never put 3 fingers on a mouse before... I use my "f off" finger to scroll the wheel since i will still be able to shoot if someone unexpectdedly comes round the corner.

I just got a diamondback myself, and I was wondering how you guys hold it?

I put two on the top, ring finger on the side opposite of thumb, and my pinky just sits off to the side, not touching anything.

Besides that, do you guys rest your palms on the mouse? I've been VERY good at FPS's before (TO, CS) when I had my old plain 400 dpi microsoft mouse. Like 2-3 years ago. What I did was, I could put two fingers on the top of that mouse, pinky and ring finger on the side opposite thumb, and my palm never touched the mouse, just my fingertips. I rested my wrist on the mousepad, and niether my wrist nor my forearm did any moving - all fingers. Doing this, I only had about a 2-inch diameter circle to move the mouse around in, but I made up for it with an extremely high sensitivity.

But I've upgraded mice a bunch since then, and I think that's why I suck now at online games. I don't know how to hold this diamondback. Do I rest my palm on the mouse, or no? Do I aim with my fingers, my wrist, or do I keep both of those still and aim by moving my forearm?

If anything but your fingertips are touching any mouse made by Razer you're holding it wrong.

Yay, that's what I was hoping for. Why isn't there like a booklet included to tell you this stuff.

I'll crank up the sensitivity and try to get used to it. Maybe I can get awesome again with this mouse.

yes its meant to only be held with your fingertips... people dont realize it was designed JUST for gaming not long hours of using Ghey-O-Hell suring the net... If you will be using it as ur primary mouse, i recommend the exactmat with wrist rest (like im getting).

I have it with eXactmat with the rest and I must say, it is a most excellent mouse and definitely excels in gaming.

I have the Diamondback and the eXactmat and I am very happy with the set-up. It is sleek and easy to use, especially in games.
