Just in time for Christmas, the best mouse in red or green. I saw this @ BB last night, and all my personal indecision between MX518 and G5 vanished.

GREEN

RED

Merry Christmas!

Not bad price, at least much better than 79.99 retail. I'll probably skip on this one though due to several factors and maybe wait for the next razer mouse.

Damn i got it for 85$ shipped:(

I have it and the G5 as well, I am using the G5 its more comfy..

By the way, 2000 DPI is tooo much and I found it impossible to use in FPS games, maybe its just me but I think laser is the thing that makes difference, it makes the miouse more accurate and more responsive than my optical mouse.

Doesn't it have settings to slow it down? I have the Logitec MX, and I can control the speed with lots of adjustment room.

Yes it has and also the G5, you can adjust the G5 on the fly during gameswhich is great, for example if you need more speed while using an assault rifle, use higher DPI and if you are woerking as sniper, just use lower DPI to 800 and you can aim better.

The Copperhead can save up to 5 profiles each with different DPI settings and has onboard memory to remember these settings.

The problem is that in real world, I found that 2000 DPI is way too fast and made my aiming worse..

Holding the different mice in the store, I found that I liked the thumb button position on the copperhead better than on the MX518 / G5. I also liked that there were 2 thumb buttons instead of 1 - I use those thrumb buttons to lean left/right in FPS and for drive-bys in GTA. The 1000Hz polling rate is way more than you'd need, but the standard 125Hz rate is sometimes not enough, and I don't like hex-editing the entire Windows USB driver to poll faster - some USB devices don't like that. Plus, the copperhead lights up (Red, in my case) to match my G15 keyboard.

IMHO, the additional features easily make it worth more than the G5, and at this price, I bit.

Why do people always talk about switchin sensitivity (dpi) on the fly during a game? As a matter of fact, isn't it better to stick on the same sensitivity that you are used to instead of some new random sensitivity? IMO, finding a consistant sensitivity and sticking to it gives the best results...

It does help in First person shooters :) like in Counter Striker Source, you may need to slow down the senstivity if you are going to use the AWP (Sniper rifle) as it will let u aim better, but if you are in a tight corridor you will need to move your cursor faster to kill multiple opponents. So it does help if you can do it on the fly during gaming, pus it is not random, each click increase the DPI by 400 (I think) and each click on the (-) button will decrease DPI by 400 as well. You have three sensitivity settings on the G5 and there is a smll light indicater on the back of the mouse which you let you know which sensitivity setting you area using.

No, they upped the price!

Someone reviewed it on Amzon and I agree with some things that he said:

Far too uncomfortable, December 10, 2005

(REAL NAME)
I'm a gamer. I play for hours a day and currently use a simple MS intellimouse optical. Well I was looking for something a little more pro, and in my searching I saw the Razer line of gaming mice. I uncharacteristly ordered one based on the specs without trying one out, only to find that it is far too bulky and uncomfortable to play with.

It's got large rubber triming down each side, so it is cumbersome to get to the left side buttons. I only say the left side because the right side buttons are so miserably place you will NEVER, EVER, be able to reach them during game play. It also feels too long and flat, so the scroll wheel is note easily reached, and your hand does not rest comfortably.

Yeah, it looks great, and I'm sure it's doing an amazing job a moving precisely. However, I can't get it to move correctly in my hand due to its horrible shape, so for gaming, it's rather worthless.

I will also write my review it may help:

My review:) :

I have both the G5 AND the Copperhead, I didn't use the copperhead for long though because I bought it for my new gaming rig which didn't reach me yet, I just used it for a day.

Ergonomics: The G5 is ALOT better for everyday use, more comfortable and the side buton is easier to reach than the 4 side buttons on the Copperhead. However, if you are left handed, then get the Copperhead without thinking as the G5 is only for people who use the right hand.

For gaming:
The Copperhead has to long rubber covered buttons, they feel good but the wheel is not well positioned (its far away from your fingers) so it is not easily accessible. However, the wheel in the G5 is alot easier to reach. As we use this wheel to swith items/weapons in games, I think the G5 is better in this regard.

Also for everyday use, the G5 ca do vertical and horizontal scrolling through the wheel. the wheel is alittle harder to move than the G5 but I got used to it.

Looks: The Copperhead looks great especially in the dark, I have the blue one and it looks awesome, the G5 isn't the best looking mouse in the market.

Extra Features: G5 comes with adjustable weights (a small metal box with many weights and a plastic cartridge where you can add the weights to, I added more weights and the mouse became more stable on my mouse pad. Copperhead doesn't come standard with weights.

Copperhead comes with onboard memory so it can saves settings and use them on more than one computer, plus it has the option to increase the polling rate to 1000Hz. You will need a fast processor to run it at The 1000Hz polling rate as its a cpu intesive processor (says the manual).

Add to this the feet of the mouse, the G5 have large feet so it slides more easily on the metal mouse pad, The Copperhead has smaller feet but they look more durable and more resistent to friction than those on the G5 (I have a feeling that the feet on the G5 will wear easily).

Uh, try again? Both links still show $56.99 for me. I'm using FF. The 'Tempest Blue' color is more expensive @ Amazon - maybe you're looking at that one?

Price is now back to $56.99 w/ free shipping.

The higher price was not Amazon themself, it was an affiliate deal. It seems Amazon's own warehouse got it back in stock.

Can somebody tell me how hard it is to press the wheel down, aka the middle mouse key function? Is it as hard as on Logitech or as easy as on MS Intellimice?

Gotta love free next delivery. I just got mine.

The middle button seems pretty easy to press. I have a MX510 at home, but don't use the wheel button very often at all. IMHO, the difficulty of pressing the middle button is just about where I think would be appropriate, hard enough that scrolling the wheel won't set it off, but not so hard as to make pressing it difficult. I tend to think (though I am NOT an expert) that the button is slightly easier to press than the MX510.

I also didn't even realize that there are a total of 4 side buttons - presumably because this mouse is made for use with either the left or right hand. Only two of the buttons are in easy reach (to the thumb) at any time. Still, more buttons are always nice.

I just got one today for Christmas. I kind of don't like how the side-glowing strips rub against my fingers, but otherwise it is a great mouse. I installed the drivers and set up the mouse how I wanted. Then uninstalled the drivers since it's all saved in the mouse.
