my wife bought a 16-pack rayovac batteries last week because its cheaper than other brands. I tried using 2 yesterday for my digicam, alas ........it did not even last for a minute. i tried 3 more pairs but did the same thing. That's it, bought a duracell today and everything's OK. Did anybody had this sorry-ass experience B4.

Even if its cheap, i still didn'g get my money's worth. Man, this brand is pathetic.

Are they the new (blue) ones?

Yeah, they're crap. Energizer and duracell only for me, unless it's for something stupid like a smoke detector.

Very interesting... I was thinking about trying some for the Maglite.... Must do load experiments.... All "piles" go into the fridge for storage. I'm still using 9v's/AA's from 1999.......

the Sony batteries are even worse. Stick to regular old proven duracells or duracell ultra. I bought some energizer titanium a few months back for my Handspring Visor and 2 days after installing them they started leaking horribly and nearly ruined the thing.

I think if they are that crappy, a smoke detector would be last place I would put them;)

You might as well return the Duracell's too.....the best investment for your digital camera that you can make is rechargeable batteries. Say what you want about them but after your 4th or 5th pack of Duracells you'll realize you've paid more for alkalines than you would have for rechargeables that'll last 1000+ charges

I second that... my Rayovac NiMH's last forever in my digital camera.

hi just wanna comment on the rayovacs's. I purchased a charger from BigLots a couple weeks ago. HOT deal. Anyways, so while i was there, i saw the Rayvac alkalines. black and gold color. Bought the 8 pack for only 2.49. Gdamn that so much cheaper than even Walmart.

anyways, i'm using them fine with my digital camera. I used them for a few hours, maybe 3-4 hours then i popped in my rechargeable ones (i used them while my rechargeables were being charged). if it didn't last for a minute there is something else wrong, maybe your batch , but mine have lasted a few hours (they are still good, i just took 'em out).

Yes it has been proven many times that Rayovac = suck. A little piece of info that some of you may find interesting is that almost (if not) all alkaline batteries sold (at least in the US) are manufactured by either Eveready (Energizer), Duracell, or Rayovac. Every alkaline I've come across no matter whose name is on it, I can identify as coming from one of those three companies. Sony, Panasonic, Phillips, GP, and so on, all relabel batteries. Most of the cheaper ones are relabeled Rayovacs. Some are Evereadys. I've seen very few relabeled Duracells.

Just a little piece of info to keep in mind when buying batteries. BTW, this does NOT apply to NIMH, NICD, carbon zinc, etc.

i use those rayovac 24 packs in the plastic containers, they work fine for my remote controls... and my slave flash. my digital camera uses lithium batteries.
