Rawhide is the single most digusting thing in this world...

My dog is going to work on a Rawhide bone and gah! This thing is disgusing. I really dont have a good way to describe it except for ugh. He loves it though and it keeps my shoes intact so oh well. Anyone out there with good alternative suggesions for chew toys?

Flavored Nyla-Bone, I think thats how its spelled, get em' at the pet store.

My Boxer gets one dried pigs ear a week, she loves them........

Dogs like to chew on leather. The rawhide is just dried, raw, leather. Not tanned and tastes good to dogs.

My roommates dog will literally devour an entire rawhide in one sitting unless you take it away from her. She will go at it so intently that you can see red on the rawhide from her tearing her mouth up. She's mad for em, though they're great when you have company and dont want the dog pestering house guests for attention.

why is it so digusting? your dog needs something to chew on and that's what its there for. you'll be hard pressed to find something that they like as much, lasts as long, or is as cheap.

Rawhide is much better than them rolling and eating their own poop.

Dont get me wrong. My two Jack Rusells have a constant supply of Rawhide bones, ears, and the like. It gives them an outlet for their natural chewing instinct and is a nice reward for them when they behave. It was just when I looked down on my leg and their was this slimy bone being chewed in direct contact on my sweatpants that I was repulsed by it.
