Ravens are going to the superbowl

They just signed Rolle, one of the best CB's in the league, to compliment their other CB...who is also one of the best in the league. They now OFFICIALLY have the best defense, add a more mature Boller, healthy Todd Heap, and Derrick mason on offense....wow.

The offense has one of the best RB's and TE's in the league, now a proven wideout, and their QB certainly has potential, and will be a year older. I could see them making it, I think their offense is better than in 2000.

Hopefully Boller can step it up this year. He was looking pretty good towards the end of last season, but with an injured Heap and no wide out options, he couldn't do much.

I think we should be in good shape if we can get a decent #2 receiver to compliment Mason.

Good signing but there are a few buts:

1) Ravens D lost Hartwell (assuming they don't resign him
2) Ray Lewis is another year older, after not having a very good (by his standards) season last year
3) Rolle had some injury problems and isn't very young.

So I would hold your horses. It's not like Ravens were a very good team last year and this signings put it over the top.

Yeah, the Ravens are stacked this year. Boller is not that bad and if heap and mason stay healthy he will get to prove that.

Hehe. Yeah, I read somewhere that the cornerback position has surpassed QB as the highest paid position in the NFL. That should say something about the value they add to the team.

I do not think they are a good enough team. Maybe make it to the playoffs, but will only be a bridesmaid.

The Cleveland Browns recently signed former Ravens CB, Gary Baxter, to a 6 year contract.

Not terribly relevant, but since the name was mentioned and he was a former Raven quarterback, Trent Dilfer will also be coming to Cleveland as starting QB.

Baxter made more stupid penalties last year than I care to remember. I'm glad we're rid of him.

Yet teams like NE and Philly manage to plug in unrproven/low-paid players at that position and have success. You can have 4 probowlers in the backfield and if you don't generate pressure with your front-seven they'll get burned.

While that certainly applies to New England (who have one of the best CBs in the game) Philly has pretty much sent its entire defensive backfield to the Pro-Bowl for a few years running now...

edit: then again the current crop went straight from unproven to all-pro so it's all good...
