Refurbished, but not too bad of a deal now that they have FINALLY released a new firmware for this item.

Pretty much same deal as geeks.com with coupon. I picked one up yesterday, just for the hell of it.

Thanks!

What is your guys experience with refirbished? I want buy a cheap MP3 player - I have the worst luck with MP3 players - they normally break after a couple of month, went through 4 in a period of 2 years. Because of that I don't want buying anything expensive like Dell DJ or Ipod. But at the same time I don't want a piece of junk either.

All in all, I've had pretty good luck throughout the years with refurbs/open box items. Right now I'm using a Dimension 4700 I bought through Dell Outlet, a 9800 Pro return from NewEgg, Panasonic refurb 2.4Ghz phone system, and I think a open box Linksys wireless router. I've had to return or exchange a couple things before (the 9800 Pro went back once, but this one is working great)... so I'd say I'm at around 85% on the positive side!

Same here. As it stands, I was less than thrilled with this unit when I got it before Christmas.

That thing looks pretty hefty, kinda like a Walkman back in the days. Anybody know how big it is? I can't find anything under the specs on their page.

It is rather tiny and does not weigh much at all. My daughter got it new from Walmart 5 months ago for $60. I am using a refurb Rio S30S - pretty decent for a cheap refurb.

Man, this sucks. I was set to upgrade my brother's unit while he's in town. If anyone has the firmware already downloaded, I could really use a copy. TIA if you can send it to gtplayer@gmail.com

If someone could up it here, that would be even better.

How does the size compare say with an ipod mini? Also all the people who own one, what problems did you have with it?

Please do...I am looking to get a new MP3 Player for running, and want something kind of cheap, and great when running, also looking for some good earphones, and these look decent.

The Rave-MP is pretty good once you get it powered on. It's perfectly useable for exercising, but the big annoyance is having to take out and reinsert the batteries to reset it so it'll actually power on. That being said, I like the Sandisk "embedded" mp3 player (just search amazon for "sandisk mp3"). The controls aren't the most intuitive on the Sandisk player, but it works reliably and does what I expect it to do. I'm sure someone else can chip in with other suggestions.

It's not that bad for a cheap player. I had a hard time getting music on it to start with and it was frustrating me. Mine (actually I gave it to my brother for Xmas) appears to turn off and on better than the mini-review above. I don't have to pull the battery to get it to cycle.

As for size, it's much smaller than a iPod Mini. It's really just a tab bit bigger than a tic-tac container. It weighs about the same as an empty tic-tac container without the battery in it. Headphones that came with are decent. My brother uses it quite often and likes it for his 45 minute commute on the tube.
