K i own 3 ratpadz. I own their first gen one and it wore like like a madman. The rough bumpy surface became all worn out and that effected my mouse movement drastically. Well so their next-gen product comes out. I've had it for no more than half a year and bam it's worn flat.

Since I bought it off of a hot deal form the HD forums here .. I bought 2. But i don't knw, Maybe I should just sell or give away my new/back up one and buy another, more reliable mousepad.

k don't get me wrong, ratpadz in the beginning are GREAT. But once it wears out, blah.

Is there anything else out there I can try that won't wear out as easy, but has the same initial quality? :(

Ditto. Been using mine for two months with mouse tape and it still feels new.

It's dual sided too so once the first side wears down, I can flip it to the other.

awww it wears out?.. :(

I'm a power mouse user. All of my apt. mates have ratpadz and their pads are not nearly as worn, if not, not worn at all compared to mine :(

i'll take a look @ the func 1030 anyways

Ratpadz are crap. The old ones bend out of shape, and the new ones are cheap, friction-heavy pieces of trash. Surface 1030 > *

I have an optical mouse so I don't need a mousepad. However, I'm using an old rectangular Macintosh pad that is gray and black that says "Apple" on it just so I don't wear down the surface of my desk. :)

Well, I guess any mousing surface would wear down sooner or later (with the exception of steel and glass pads).

I was looking at getting an IceMat but the price was rather high.

I don't think that would work since optical mice needs to reflect light to track movement. All the glass pads out in the market are coated.

Why do you need such a frictionless surface? I use my Explorer 4.0 on my desk surface and can frag like a mofo.

I have tendinitis that's why hehhe...less friction means less work and stress on my wrist. The ibuprofen wasn't enough...ratpadz was actually the best thing that happened to my wrist since its creation in my mom's womb (until it wears out like insane! :(). And my sensitivity in mouse movement is set to extreme high. (8.0 in CS, about 1cm from the max in UT2k4)

and i got temporarily banned from AT's UT2K4 server because devious thought that i was cheating :( :p :( :p

fear me! :p

nah i really suck though heehe

Let me guess you have a mouse with batteries?

Every time I use one with a heavy mouse I get problems and don't liek it, but with a light mouse (corded), it works great

Maybe the teflon tape is what's wearing it down? Or are you wearing bracelets that are abrasive?

Btw - your sensitivity is nothing in CS - mine is 15. :D

coool thx much for the suggestions on the other mousing surfaces..i'll chk 'em out.

and the teflon might be wearing it down because it leaves a white residue on the ratpadz surface

NO NOT THAT WHITE RESIDUE! wut are u thinking?! sigh

ratpads are useless. way too small. there are a lot of good mousepads out there, but going from a ratpadz try out a func pad or a steelpad 4d.

This is just from personal experience and all, but I've found that when I use the teflon tape on the mouse feet it tends to wear down the pad faster than if I moused without the tape. I've had a new RatpadGS for about a 3 months now and it dosen't seem to be wearing at all, the feet on my mouse is a different story =/.

Using a Steelpad 4D, which a very generous friend bought for me in Taiwan. Of the 'stupidly overpriced' mousepads I've tried the func and the steelpad, and both are nice and frictionless. But the steelpad is bigger.

You really appreciate it after using a cloth pad for a few hours and then switching back to the uber one ;)
