Rather smoke than be a fattie

That's why you are fat. Honestly I doubt I could eat 4000 calories everyday. Especially doing so with no soda.

It's very easy, just 2 or 3 pounds of meat, and 2 or 3 pounds of veggies and boom you're there ...

I used to eat a lot, back when I was on the swim team, I was up around 7000 to 8000 calories per day (3 footlong subs for lunch, a pound of pasta and a jar of spaghetti sauce and a grilled chicken for dinner, etc)

I can tolerate 4000, but it's very difficult to eat so little.

One for each sub 😉

What about people who are heavy, who work out several times per week, who do not eat twinkies or hohos or doritos or any of that shit, who do not drink any sugary drinks, and who eat slowly so that the "trigger" that says "I'm no longer hungry" goes off, and stop eating as soon as they no longer feel painfully hungry, who never eat late at night?

If they are heavy is that "lack of self control?"

I peaked around 320 or so, and have cut most sugars, and changed my lifestyle a lot, got a elliptical, use it regularly for 20-30 mins at a time, and I lost some weight yes, but I've been stable around 300 pounds with no more loss.

I have tried "smaller portions", but then my stomach make growling noises and I feel hungry 24 hours per day. Essentially, my choices are I can be fat, and happy, or I can be miserable and uncomfortable 24 hours per day, and possibly less fat.

That is not lack of self control, that is simply choosing the better option. I suspect most people would choose being a little bit overweight vs feeling like they are starving all the time.... Also, my metabolism is not slow. It's actually very high, If I could tolerate the hunger and cut down to 3000 or so calories per day, I would shed weight like crazy, but, typically, I eat around 4000 or else I feel starving/hungry.

Also, pretty much all of the OTC appetite suppressants, and many of the prescription appetite suppressants have been removed from the market or are narcotic/controlled substances.

If the problem was simply "self control" there would be a LOT less fat people. 100 years ago there were a lot less fat people in the USA vs today, is that because people have less self control? Or is it because there are so many more unhealthy options, and unhealthy desk jobs, and unhealthy everything? Also, what about genetics, being heavy/fat would enable a person to survive longer during times when food is scarce or lacking. Thus, as a survival trait, genetically, some people are more hard wired to be heavy than others.

Blanket statements claiming lack of self control are idiotic at best.
Lack of self control is a contributing factor, but it's far from an all encompassing answer.
You're hungry because you stretched your stomach out by stuffing it with food. No one should feel hungry to the point of pain on 4k calories a day.

That, and you should boost your metabolism and burn fat through this novel technique called exercise.

You know if you ate less REGULARLY and followed through for more than a few days/weeks you would likely start to be filled by a regular amount of food. Anything over 2.5-3k calories is pretty disgusting unless you are body building or some shit.

You aren't getting full because you stretched your stomach out so you could handle the intake of food meant for a bear.

Lay off the food, start eating a normal caloric intake, and your stomach will shrink.

You'll be large until you accept this. 'not feeling full' is your worst enemy.

I'd rather smoke a fattie

You need to cut carbs and start lifting. Try to eat steamed veges (not the crap that comes seasoned in a bag) steamed veges have very little calories and will fill you up. I'm willing to bet that you'll get tired of eating the veges before you actually get full.

Or if you just have a very high metabolism. I eat a 2x larger than normal meal, and I'll be hungry and able to eat again way sooner than someone who ate a regular sized meal at the same time. I also don't put on pounds. I'm 5'11 180, which is overweight I guess. But I eat 6 or 7 full meals a day + snacks so based off calories I should be like 600lbs. I could easily eat 2.5k in 1 sitting and not feel the least bit lethargic like I just overate. *shrug* My stomach's probably big, and I could eat less and make it shrink to a normal size so I'd eat less. But that's not why I eat so much. I eat around 5-6k a day and I maintain my weight of 180.

Is this per day?

Because eating 1lb of chicken per meal and 1lb of veggies per meal is a shit load of both.

And per my awesome calculations 3lbs of chicken + 3lbs of veggies = ~2.8k calories. Which is about what I should eat per day to maintain my lean mass.

So you're an idiot, basically, is what you're admitting.

I used to think that being overweight is always a personal lifestyle thing. But I have since come across people with whom I know it is not the case.

Having said that, it is not a coincidence that America has an obesity crisis and it has a huge car culture, that the portion sizes for one person are usually enough for two, and on and on.

I have a solution to not getting fat:

Don't eat if you're not hungry.

As for smoking, yeah it's bad for you, but so is all the pollution we're spewing out in the air. That is probably killing us faster than some little cigarette. Especially when you go to big cities like Toronto, you can actually SEE the pollution.

Do you realize how fat you'd have to be to be classified as "extremely obese"? A 5' 10" male would have to weigh like 400 lbs to hit the BMI of 55 the study is talking about. Of course smokers will take this football and run with it since they look for anything to rationalize their habit. The sad takeway is that a normal weight smoker is only slightly better from a longevity standpoint that a grossly obese person. Wow, that should make them feel better about their general health.

Oh please. You don't honestly believe that? Must be one of those rationalizing with a tobacco monkey on their backs.

There are studies linking certain types of gut bacteria with being obese and certain types with being skinny. Get a fecal transplant from a skinny fucker and watch the pounds melt away...
