Rate your "big 4" US carrier on Consumer Report's new website

Consumer Reports created a new website for people to rank their carrier by geographic location.

http://www.crowdsignal.org/

It only covers the "big 4" so those us on on StraightTalk or Cricket (I just jumped from ST to Cricket) aren't represented. I emailed them to ask why this is the case.

Anyway, the data should be interesting when more people put in their stats.

This is a pretty awful website. It only allows me to look at the results for one particular zip code without any superimposed map. Because it is new there are very few results but I doubt it will be popular since many people in large cities tend to travel through multiple zip codes during the day.

I'm the only one so far from my zip.

AT&T and Verizon are pretty close here, with Verizon giving better coverage, but AT&T having consistently better provider. Those two switch places from time to time in speed, though, so Verizon overall usually is the better company. T-Mobile has gotten better, but it's still only has good coverage in NYC, not as much in the suburbs. I have yet to hear anyone in real life say they were happy with Sprint.

I'm on AT&T right now but might switch back to Verizon or T-Mobile soon.

Hmm....Kind of looks like a person can do multiple reviews so not sure how accurate the results will be.

[full disclosure] I work for Consumer Reports and was a part of the team that developed Crowd Signal [/full disclosure]

FYI -- we're implementing new code so that people can't "game" the system this week. If you have other comments, questions, suggestions - please let me know.

All I know is where I'm at now, AT&T is the best choice (which is what I have). Back in Colorado Verizon would have been better.

Not sure how useful this would be...Everyone would rank their own carriers that they're on as the best.

Similar to how congress has a favorability rating in the single digits and yet they have a 90+% incumbency rate.
Everyone hates the people in congress, except their own.

How many people actually have experience with multiple carriers ? They'll either say the current one is great or terrible

I have Verizon postpaid and AT&T prepaid (no data), so I took the survey for Verizon. Only one in my zip. :D

doesn't seem like a useful measure the way they have it setup and presented.

Ideally i'd love to see a spatial map, a la google maps, where it captures history like google traffic (although not based on M-F, but 1H2014, 2H2014, 3H2014, etc. etc.) , so you can see how the zip code changes over the course of a year or two.

Surveys always need a "N/A" answer.
I don't have an opinion on "customer service", so how do I rate it?

I'm the only one thus far to rank Sprint in my zip, so needless to say, they lag the other carriers at the moment. Results might be useful once they've hit critical mass...

I do not trust that website. I ran it twice, once in FF and once in Chrome. First I selected AT&T and gave it terrible reviews (work phone with poor service), and then T-Mobile with great reviews (personal phone) for my home ZIP.

The AT&T review results came out ahead of T-Mobile that it compared it. But then when I looked at the results for T-Mobile it came out ahead of AT&T. Again for the same ZIP.

So, how can two opposing reviews both suggest the service I have is the winner if no matter which service I use it is 'the winner'?
