He have a hard drive/monitor/keyboard/mouse/speakers already?

i didn't go 939 because my friend doesn't oc so its just wasted money.

Unless I'm blind, the list has a s939 MB and CPU.

Looks pretty good though.

ahh it looks good, I personally like a fast smaller hdd for OS uses and a larger one to actually store data, so.. I'd say go 250 gigs on that one and get a 60 gig for the OS. you get the added benefit of easy formats, and reinstalls for XP, plus xp pukes up chipset changes..

What no Nforce 3 Ultra or Nforce 4 motherboard? Ewww... way too much money for a HD that's that slow when you can get 2 160 Gig for about $100.00
Love the graphics card. Love the memory. I don't like the case (ugly) but that's my opinion. $64.00 for a HSF? eww...

price for that video card is pretty steep considering it doesn't even have pci express (16x vs. 8x of AGP)

With that setup, you shouldn't cheap out on the MB. Get the Asus or the MSI NF3 Platinum if you plan to OC.
If you do plan to OC, buy a CPU with a Winchester core. You can save ~$70 by getting a 3200+ Winchester and OC'ing past the 3500+ speed.
If not OC'ing, you don't need a $80 HSF. Besides, the CPU you list is retail.

I've seen it for $30 somewhere. But i agree with you, this is much better for silence than the xp-120.

Get rid of that Tagan and get a PC Power and Cooling 510 or an Antec 430.....

This claim's about impossible to make, because the silence is determined by what fan you choose for it (it's sold without a fan). The Zalman 7000 AlCu is still a better value, though.

My other recommendations for the OP:

Get a 3200+ instead of the 3500+. While at it, switch the motherboard for something better, like an Epox EP-9NDA3+ or MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum.

I'm not sure how good Tagan is--I've heard praise for them, but also some negativity. If they end up not being a good brand to go with, consider Fortron, Seasonic, Antec, or Enermax. (A PCP&C 510, though, would be major overkill.)

Try a conventional 8MB-buffer drive if it's significantly cheaper.

Looks good over all. I have an XP-120, and while it is a bit expensive, being able to use a nice 120mm fan to cool your CPU, definatly keeps the noise down. Now if only my 6800GT wasn't so loud!

Replace that hs with a Zalman.

Get 2 160 or 200GB drives and RAID them.

Spend that saved money on two crucial ballistix pc3200 512mb

Just spend $30 xtra to get a neo2 platinum

Not sure about PSU

Lower that A64 to a 3200 or even a 3000+
