As the owner of a snake, I can assure you that by that time the mouse is dead... though the snake must have been confused and swallowing it backwards (or photochopped), as swallowing a mouse tail first the legs can get jammed while the mouse is on the way to the stomach

Hi there.

With regards to the pic - those dogs are in a K-9 police dog program. This is a test of their self-control; the kitten will escape unscathed.
