How is this build?

  • Fantastic for the Price!

  • Very good, but a few issues

  • May want to rethink a few components

  • Needs serious work before consideration

  • Complete waste!

The main thing I have been going back and forth on is the GPU. I wanted to keep the hardware under 700$ but for me to be able to play the latest games at pretty good quality I decided to bump up the capability of my GPU to a GTX460. I was going for a cheap 60$ ATI Radeon but just did not want to get caught playing games at low-medium settings with almost no AA turned on.

I also did not want to cheap out on my motherboard. So upped the cost of that from around 80$ to 130$.

So what do you guys think? Will this, for example, be able to play Skyrim at High - Very High Settings with atleast 8xAA?

I will be buying my old friends extra monitor and his Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit for a combined 50$.

Thanks for all replies guys!

A GTX 460 will hold back an i5 2500. I recommend a GTX 570 or faster with that CPU.

By that reasoning he needs a terrabyte ssd as the hdd will hold the CPU back aswell. You pay through the nose for the performance bump of a 570. A 460 May well be adequate for a year or so until the next generation of cards are out at which point he can pick up a card with 570 performance for a cheaper price.

Sounds ok. I would get a different PSU, made by Seasonic. Also would get a 1TB Samsung HDD. 160GB is pretty small nowadays.
