Please criticise this. Also do you think it is a good idea ordering from UK, since I live in Ireland?

By the way I want to play games like Quake:ET, UT3, Crysis and COD4.

You should get a p35 mobo, not a g33 mobo. Something like the p5k-se, abit ip35-e or gigabyte ds3l. And the videocard sucks. For those games you definately want something like a 8800gt. All those things should be within budget, I know ?1000-1200 can buy you all of that in Holland.

I originally wanted to get a 8800GTX, but I was told to wait for the 9 series to come out, and then either get a 8800gtx for much lower price, or get the new GeForce.

As for the rest of the build, is it complete and will fit OK?

That's a good mobo. And the 9000 series aren't even confirmed yet. Speculation has it that they will arrive in q1 2008. Right now, the 8800gt is a very good, viable option. One more option is to wait for the new 8800gts's, which will most likely beat the 8800gtx, and cost a fair bit less.

So what should I get now? I don't want to pay a lot of money now if I will get something better later, the 8800gt is £140 from that site.

Well, why is it that you can't wait till 3 december, which is when the new 8800gts comes out? I dunno, no matter what you do, you're going to lose money if you buy a card now, and upgrade again in a month. Unless you could buy a card that you can put into your brothers/sisters/parents PC or a HTPC that you are going to build.

Last time I checked 3 december is 3 weeks before christmas ? You can pre-order the 8800gts, and receive all your stuff on the 4th of december, build it the same say, play Crysis during the night.

ok that sounds good, btw by christmass i meant the whole time i am off college. how much better than the 8800gtx is it going to be? i searched the web for this and all i could find was technical specification comparisons which i don't understand. the price seems to be about equal to the 8800gtx.

You need an e-tailer, I don't know any Irish ones on the top of my head. Theres overclockers.uk though that might ship to Ireland ? You should email them, and ask them when it's going to be possible to pre-order the new 8800gts, or if they can email you when it becomes possible. The 8800gts should be as fast and possibly faster then the 8800gtx, because it will have the same amount of shader units, 128, will have near the same memory bandwith, and will run at higher clockspeeds. I mean, just look at the 8800gt ssc from evga, it comes really close to the 8800gtx, even with less shader units.

But I said the 8800gt is a very good, viable option as well, in 8 days AMD/ATI will also launch there new GPU's/CPU's, which should bring down prices and broaden your choice. You could buy either nvidia/amd by then, and have your rig build up before december.

You can order your parts from anywhere in the EU without worry. Beware of companies situated on Isle of Man and Jersey.

I agree with upgrading the video card to a 8800GT for the games you want to play. The card drops very rapidly in price right now. Last week prices dropped about 50 DKK a day in Denmark (50 DKK is about 5 GBP), so be sure to check prices before ordering.

1 gig of RAM is not enough. Go for 2.

A "generic case fan" is likely noisy and flimsy. The case probably comes with the nescesarry fans anyway, but if you need additional fans, good quality ones are relatively inexpensive, and a good buy IMO.

you should look into evga's step up program (I don't know if its offered outside of the US). With it you could buy an 8800gt now (only sensible option until the new 8800gts's are out) then if the 9000 comes out within 90 days you can step up to it (I can't guarantee it will be out in 90 days, but there is talk of first quarter 08 so odds are reasonable).

i think i will get the components without a graphics card and start building it then when the 8800gts comes out i will get it?

btw i know very little about computers

Then maybe you should consider not building it yourself. If any problems present themselves...it can take some knowledge to get them sorted out.

You can never guaranteed everything will work on the first power up. Troubleshooting is almost always involved.
