The menu on the first one is pretty annoying, especially if you highlight the far right item and then want to click on the far left sub item.

I would darken the backgrounds just a bit. They are a bit bright if you have been staring at a monitor long.
The estimate and consultation forms should take into account someone using anything other than default windows font size. It is all jumbled up on any other setting.

1st one. Get rid of the background image and centre the web site and top navigation bar by getting rid of the "Free Estimate" form on the right. You can place that form on it's own page.

2nd. The blue aqua background is too harsh, soften the colours a bit. Again centre the page by getting rid of the form on the right and putting it on its own page. Also having both a top drop down menu and a left column menu for navigation is confusing you should find some way of unifying them

And a note about colours for both. While not too bad the colours don't quite all work together to create a unified whole.

Otherwise not too bad.

I have to ask. How much were you paid? I've thought of doing some web design, I feel I have the skills but have no idea what to charge or how to go about finding customers.

Great feedback guys!

@joshsquall: Yep implementing that menu for the first site I also found that annoying. I like the mulit-level menu so I'll need to find a way to keep it basically the same but make it more user friendly.

@yllus: I agree, better backgrounds are in order for both.

@modelworks: I'll keep that in mind when choosing the new backgrounds and make them darker to provide better contrast between the main content and the background as well. Also I'll try to fix the form issue when the window size is smaller.

@Locut0s: Cool beans, I like the color feedback and will try to adjust it to find a better "fit"/"flow". The form being a part of the template was a requirement, but I'll definitely discuss this will the owners to see if would be better to put it on it's own page like you said. As far as price, I did these for free to help my friend's business. I do believe the estimates he was getting was on a per hour basis at around $40-$100/hour. Also bulk quotes at around $700-$2000 to design the whole site template. I hope that helps you.
