Enders Game was one of my all time favorite books when I was younger and I've since re-read it several times and have enjoyed it immensely. I've tried to get some other people to read it and it has had mixed reviews. While some have found it to be an amazing book as well, others have had problems enjoying it to the same extent as I did.

What did you guys think? What would you give it on a scale of 1-10? I'd give it a 9.5...

Of course it's up there -- 9/10. Everyone I've made read it has liked it. Especially the non-scifi types.

I would give it a 9 out of 10. It is a great book. Some of my friends love it, others hate it. I don't really know why. In my opinion the rest of the series aren't as good as Ender's Game.

A classic! I enjoyed the first two or three sequels, but the latest ones don't grab my attention. "Jumped the shark?"

I give it a 10.

I have almost read the whole series. I have read...

Ender's Game
Speaker for the Dead
Xenocide

and

Ender's Shadow
Shadow of the Hegemon
Shadow Puppets

I'm still finishing up Book 4 of the Ender's Series, Children of the Mind, I'm about 2/3 through.

After that, I got that other book to read, The Enderverse(?). The book of short stories in the universe. Then I appear to be finished with the whole series for now. Though I'm unsure if OSC will release another book in the Bean Series, from what I remember the ending to the last Bean book really left alot for a sequel. I hope to see more soon.

Ender's game and its sequels are very very different. I found Ender's Game to be more of a young adults book, while Speaker for the dead really starts to really gets serious and aimed towards and older crowd. It took me a while at first, but I got used to the new style of its sequels, and I learned to enjoy it as well.

The Bean Side of the story with the "Shadow books" are written more like Ender's Game throughout the whole series, so if you find yourself enjoying Ender's Game, but disliking Speaker, you would definatly enjoy the Shadow series.

Last I heard, WB is making a movie on the series, so hopefully that'll turn out great.

I enjoyed both the Ender and Bean series. I can't praise it enough.

To enjoy the sequels you really have to be more of a sci-fi fan IMO. While I am not much of a sci-fi buff myself... I gave them a good shot cause of my love for EG. I was the same way where I had to get used to the new style and story at first but it turns out I did enjoy them, just not to the same level I enjoyed the first book. I still give out a copy of EG to a friend almost once a year to try to spread what I found to be some incredible reading on summer days of years past.

For the movie - I am worried cause it is hard to get things onto film that really convey the book's feeling and emotion. Many times movies go through the action and show the events but the stuff inside the characters falls short. My biggest hope lies in the fact that this movie has been in "production" for years and years now. OSC is being very picky about the script (writting it himself) and about the director and actors. Hopefully he will have a say in what goes on and how it rolls out so that it will stay as true to the book as possible.

Really? You thought Enders Shadow was better than Enders Game? What made it better IYO?

It lies between the likes of the Foundation series, Ringworld, and Dune in its literary triumph. I enjoyed it very much.

A+ Book. The sequals are also very good. But from Xenocide on I felt Card was getting a little preachy. Still a very good series nontheless. Piggies RULE all! And there is no life but your own muwhahaha.

Fan-freakin'-tastic. Probably the best scifi novel in terms of broad appeal. When we had to read it in high school even the jocks liked it.

The sequels were interesting, not quite as good but still good. However the parallel story, Ender's Shadow, was just as good as Ender's Game as far as I'm concerned.

Still working on Shadow of the Hegemon.

And if you're interested in another good series check out the Vorkosigan Saga -- which (sort of) starts with Falling Free -- by Lois McMaster Bujold(sp?). It's about 15, 16 books if I remember, could be more. All of 'em are good. (though two have some disturbing parts)

agreed. I give Ender's Game an 8/10.

The parallel books are awful, Mormonist propaganda, though.

Ender's Game was great. The three sequels, which really make up one long book, are also great. Yeah, they get "weirder", but that really shouldn't put you off them. I especially thought the concept of Jane was brilliant.

I've tried reading some of Card's other stuff, notably the Alvin Maker series, but I just couldn't get into it. I'll try the Bean series based on what you lot have said :p

Awesome series. I'd give it a 10 personally. The ending was sad though because I wanted more.

10/10. I've only given a 10/10 to one other book I've ever read, and that was Dune.
