This was bugging me for a week, finally I finished it, it's due Monday.
So, what do you think about teh web site?

http://megavovan.com/buildingapc/

We are on tables now, I am using CSS only to make couple font/link effects, not as a layout.

Thanks for the opinions :)

EDIT: Next button added!

it's ugly

edit

okay here is some more constructive criticism. i'm going to assume your terrible at web design, becuase that is what that web page tells me.

let me start off here:

<style>
a {
text-decoration:none;
border-bottom:solid blue 1px;
}
a:hover {
color:#00FF00
}
</style>

you might want to start off by using the correct tag:

<style type="text/css">

you might also want to consider that underlined links look ugly. and the colors you chose are terrible. leave it at:

a, a:link, a:visited { color: #(whatever); text-decoration: none; }

the underline looks terrible and it's a bad color.

next, the background is blue and then tan? tan? that's just an ugly color, period.

also:

<body style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS',verdana;" bgcolor="#003366" link="#CC0033" alink="#00FF00" vlink="#FF3333">

you can put this in the stylesheet up top, which you should do, because that might show that you almost know what you're doing.

sash1 - I'll put the CSS in separate style sheet after lunch.

What would be a good color theme? I am terrible with colors...

put a next button at the bottom of your pages, it's really annoying to have to scroll back up :p

Dont have a a:visited color, just keep it the same as the regular link color. The a:hover green is way outta left field, do something subtle. And dont do underlines for links either. The site would benefit from a banner, right now it feels like everything is pushed up.

The backgrounds of some of your picture are white but your background is more of a light tan so you can see the border, something to think about.

I feel like there's too much scrolling for each page. For example, instead of listing all 3 types of PCs on one page, you should have each one on a different page with links on top to click through each one. Same for the Parts section.

The Next button added, complete with alt, border, width, and height tags :)

Mo0o - I agree there is too much scrolling, but I planned the website on paper, and will consider this issue on next project.

edit: left visited links of light red because the purple makes whole page look sad with this navy background. and regular link color is more like cherry red (darker)

I dont think you should have the visited link differ from the regular link because it ruins your color scheme and the continuity of your menu

I see...well, I am too tired to change it now :) Next project FTW!

Ugly.

There is nothing that is said here that isn't said better on countless other computing sites. You use a lot of jargon and a lot of random suggestions which you assume is best for the person trying to learn.

I love this line "So, if you are not going pre-built, the best way to get a computer is to build one yourself."

What would the third option be? I guess you could buy broken but built.

You should double check a lot of your sources, a lot of your information is baseless and it sounds to me like you are just trying to expand your e-penis, if you ever want to get into this business you need to be way more objective. You make one big mistake over and over again in this article, you assume you are right and expect me (the reader) to believe you based on your word.

honestly I think it's not bad at all, it's a very clean look. granted it's no corporate website, but I think it is very clean and works with 1024x768

good luck bro :)

The heuristics need to be worked on a bit. I remember back in the day when studying for my various qualifications, the one thing I looked forward to was web design and creation. I had all these good ideas, but when it came down to graphics and creating my webpage i failed badly.

I now hate web design. :p

Dude, the content sucks, I know. I am not going into "that business" - it's a school website which everyone will forget once I get my grade...

RichUK - I am not gonna be a web designer, I am leaning in Information Systems Technologies and database management

The point is to make website where tables work, colors work, and links work. What I made is quite far beyond the requirements...

allright. then I really have nothing else for you. if you do another project i'll be glad to help. seeing as i do this kinda crap for a living.

just one thing. I noticed you use the tags:

<strong></strong>
<em></em>

that's just clutter and useless typing. you can use <b></b> for bold and <i></i> for italics. just something that might save you a bit of typing in the future.
