Hey all,

My OCZ ModXStream 700 Watt PSU died this week after exactly 4 years of use.

I replaced it with a Corsair CX600 Bronze, 600W....the price after newegg rebate (35 bucks) was too good to pass up.

Did I make the right purchase you think for my PC with below stated specs?

I need to add another HDD to it in the near future as well...and maybe two more 120mm fans...

The extreme outervision wattage calculator said I should be more than fine, even with what I want to add...and 46A on the 12V rail seems pretty good, but I read a lot of conflicting things online doing searches.

price + performance + need = 5 out of 10

I have a feeling Blain might just be trolling you... You are asking for your purchase to be rated, which implies you'll be happy if people reply with a number out of 10, but don't comment anything on why it was or wasn't a good purchase.

CX600 is fine. It's pretty much the lowest quality I'd consider buying, but that's more due to my standards rather than the unit's. It's much better quality than pretty much anything of that wattage at that price. Decent pick i'd say

So not a good choice huh
Its a decent choice. You can't expect so much while paying so little. My Corsair CX500 gets the job done but future purchases might be veering towards more expensive ones, or PSUs that doesn't require the fan to spin at low loads.

Yea, I agree... No, the CX isn't a SeaSonic, but it's a decent budget unit with a decent warranty (Corsair.) I have 3 CX430s in use... they were around $20 each (except the M-model) and were a perfect choice for the budget builds they went into. But... you DO get what you pay for. If I was picking a new PSU to replace the TX750 in my main rig, I'd go SeaSonic.

If a numerical score isn't sufficient, I'll amend my rating to "C" = average, for the same reasons listed before...
"price + performance + need" = C
