Hello all,

I recently pieced together an AM2 gaming rig, but was then told to wait for Conroe.. So, here is my current setup. Pick it apart and recommend as you see fit. Thanks!

Case - Recommendations?
PSU - Recommendations based on specs below?
CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 2.4Ghz ("Conroe")
Heat Sink - Any Conroe-enthusiast/overclocker HSF out yet?
Motherboard - Asus P5W DH Deluxe
Video Card - ATI All-in-Wonder X1900XT (again, recommend me something. I'd like to stick with ATi)
Ram - 2GB DDR2-667 (Brand?)
HD - 120+GB SATA

Thanks!
Chris

haha theres nnot much to rate but i'd give u a 9 based on cpu and gpu choice.. xt is kinda getting old.. considered xtx?
dunno the powere draw on c2d but i'd look into the seasonic 500-600(to be safe) or enermax liberty, PCPC, or FSP(although i own one, i'm not a fan of the quad 12v rails at 15a each. kinda low as one rail is dedicated to the pci-E connectors (15a enough for x1900 crossfire???)

I may consider the XTX, it all really depends on the price of some of this stuff next month, if they drop at all.

I'm contemplating the Asus board I picked. It's Crossfire-ready, however for the moment, I'll be using 1 card. Would it still be smart to pick up this board for future Crossfire/DX10 card use?

Thanks again,
Chris

I'd go for an E6400 and use the saved money for an XTX. The only big difference is the cache, and there's no proof that will have a huge impact.

Well, my budget is $1,500US, at the absolute most. Right now, with the XTX added, and estimating Conroe will be around $330 (E6600), I'm just above $1,200.

My recommendations for case and PSU : Antec P160W and Seasonic S12600
Also, there is nothing called All-In-Wonder X1900XT, it's called All-In-Wonder X1900.
There is no big difference between X1900XT and X1900XTX. The two are good purchases, so choose what suits your budget.

everything seems fine but if your gaming AMD still takes alot of the scores from conroe. Also id go with a cheaper GPU for now, because in 6 months if you save your money you can pick up a Direct X 10 card :)

Future upgradeability is always a ++++ when buying mobos. Good choice.

Hmm, alright.. I just found out the board is going to be 3-400 bucks, and if it is I'll have to scrap it.

I'm going to stick with Intel this build. Based on benchmarks I've seen, Conroe blows the FX-60 and 62 out of the water as far as gaming performance. I've been an AMD fanboy for the past 4-5 years. I think Intel's back in full swing, honestly.

Most benchmarks i have seen are fairly close gaming wise.. its only in encoding and stuff like that that the conroe takes the lead. and even then its by maybe 30 seconds... for me im a heavy gamer and AMD has always worked for me best. i dont think amd would just sit here and let themselves get beaten that easily.. i think they have something up their sleves. But its your money. Personally. im building an AM2 rig in July/August most likely because i think it wont be long until AMD is back on top. (keep in mind AMDs Reverse hyperthreading rumor going around)
