5/10 comparing it to the top of the line. This will perform well with whatever you throw at it for now however.

if I were to
replace the cpu with A64 X2 3800+
and replace the mobo with DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX

how would you rate it to the top of the line? and lastability?

Well, if you get that mobo you're going to have to get a new PSU cause they recommend only PSU's above 480Wts. Dont know about that RAM but it must be high quality to work with that board as well, unless you're lucky. Also, I hope you like to play with a system cause I just bouht the Ultra-D and of all the systems I've put together I've never had one so picky and finicky as this one. Its great to tweak settings but a PITA to get to play nice all the time.

So I'm not saying that your system is bad at all -- I'm comparing it to a SLI 7800GTX with a few gigs of ram and dual 21inch LCD's and Raptors in Raid 0 and an FX-57 (or an OC'ed opteron beyond that 🙂 ). Most of those are overkill unless you have no life and want to drop a few grand into a computer just so you can say "I get 100+ FPS on FEAR!"

Your rig will play games nice and smooth! That is a great video card and a fast enough processor and RAM to handle most anything you throw at it.

The only other things I'd suggest is take a look at the PSU and see what the 12v rails are rated at. You're going to want something that has 15+A on them to handle that video card.

Looks like that one is rated at 14A and 15A - should work fine for you.. but it is on the lower end of what people seem to be comfortable with.

nice rig. but really you are paring a 7800 GT with a 1 gb ram. not cool also i think the cpu might be a bit of a bottle neck. well its not like a can comment since i am about to buy a comp at about half the price (no rich really).

I really disagree that that proc. would bottleneck the system. And pairing the 7800gt with 1gb ram isn't too bad either. This day in age, the cpu doesn't form a bottleneck as much as the vc itself. But I see what you mean, I just don't agree that that would happen.

Putting more money into a GFX card over a cpu/ram is a great idea if you are looking to game. Its the most important part for framerates. THe only other thing I would look at is the CPU. (have you looked at any of the opterons? ) You can always add another gig of ram quite easily.
