I'm sorry but your design sucks. It looks like a late 90s small business geocities site.

Edit: And you say it's free speech yet you don't allow bestiality? Call it "free speech except for nasty stuff".

Designs alright, it's effective for business which means keep it simple and clean.

The prices are kinda high for what your getting though.:(

Considering having sex with animals is illegal in most places, I agree with what he says on the website. Nothing illegal.

As for the design, it's ok. Nothing special, but looks better than most on geocities.com

The majority of states (but not all) have laws against bestiality. According to a quick search I did, the following states do NOT have laws against it:

Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Ohio, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, & Wyoming.

From what i gathered by browsing through the site: you're the webmaster, but you make several references to "we". In the same pages, you make several references to "I". Personally, unless you want it known that you're a small business or a single user, stick to "we".

-=bmacd=-

edit: otherwise, i thought it was a very nice site

I appreciate all the feedback.

You make a really good point, its very inconstent. There is four of us, but I am running it, so I'll have to decide on one or the other I guess. Probably "we" a lot more than "I" would be something to consider.

sorry but your design sucks. It looks like a late 90s small business geocities site.

I am sure my design isn't "phenominal" or "great" but I disagree that it looks like a late 90s geocities site. Perhaps you could point us to one of your designs that would make it look like that, it would be nice. Besides if you want to see bad design, look at one of the sites that will be merging with us Elite Oregon, that's bad.

The prices are kinda high for what your getting though.

Really? I thought we were kind of midrange. You will be getting more bandwidth for the money when we move to a different upstream provider, then I think it will be a better deal.

And as far as the Bestiality goes, its really obvious. It is more trouble than it is worth, by far. It is illegal in some states, but not in others, but why run the risk. When we move the servers from Oregon (Where it is apparently legal) and Arizona (where it is not) to California (where it is illegal) next month, we have a bunch of different problems.

we really are trying to be generous with what we allow for content, but keep in mind if the site breaks laws, and we allow it, we also are liable. The $15-$30 per month is not worth all the legal trouble. You have to weigh it out like that.

Thanks again for your comments. Keep em coming. BTW Viper, how have you been? Haven't seen you in a while.

- I think it's "blacklist."

This is what I was referring to. A lot of do-gooders use this as an excuse, even though realistically, you cannot add a company's
DNS servers to this list because they have offensive content. Its a bluff, and a lot of hosts fall for it.

What makes it bad IMO is the shadowing around the boxes. It just doesn't look clean. The electric dark blue background seems kind of cheesy too. I would show you my design, but I have no site. I have a blog but that can't be compared to an actual website.

I think the shadowed boxes look good, but you got to do something about that logo. Maybe you can ask the AT community to make one for you for a small price. Just remember to pay them... we all know what happened with you know who. :D

BTW, the blue background doesn?t go with the gray boxes IMO. Other then that it?s good I think.

i noticed doing a whois that your nameservers point to zoneedit.. are you hosting your webhosting business off of your computer? i'm on cable and it seems sorta of laggy for such an expensive service imo (not trying to thread crap or anything, but for $3.95/mo i can get a better hosting plan from you know where *cough*dixiesys*cough*). will u be running this service of your verizon dsl or going to be going with something abit faster when you finally start your business (just did a tracert)?

and no support forums? need one of those..

design-wise, it looks okay to me.

ehh... personally I'm on the side that thinks the design sucks.

Might look good for a two-bit company getting their first site on the net, but for a company that offers graphic, web design this is all you have to showcase your talent?

I actually like the simple design...better than my website...

I may contact you in the future as I will be giving my members 30-50MB of space a month and I'm deciding to keep things in different physical locations.

It's a fair design, nothing special yet nothing bad. But how come the page loaded so slow? I'm on 1.5Mb ADSL so I don't believe its me. Also in your menu selection in the left top box, the selections arent centered thoroughly, and the "Web Design" looks squashed. Another thing is "our" should have a capped O since all of the other words are capped too. Just some minor fixes and you're fine and professional looking.

Looks prety decent, loaded REALLY slow on my cable connection though. Only advice I have is to cut down on all the "powered by" banners. Maybe if you want to make a page describing what the servers are run on, but it doesnt look right on the front page.

btw the powered by php logo points to the wrong address ;) its php.net

thanks for (more) criticism and comments.

Yes, I am running this off a DSL line, on a Freebsd machine in my home, because we will be merging everything, and moving it to a colocation facility in San Francisco, where we have the Bandwidth. I am just getting this site rolling today. I am using Zoneedit right now, actually it should show up as secondaries for the server (ns1.messedup.net) until all is setup and running at the new facility, and get our DNS goin.

BTW, Screw GraniteCanyon.com Kids, zone edit is still the most reliable free DNS service yet, IMO.

Hmmm... scrap it dude... the graphical addition.... you'd be better off without.
Good effort, just keep at it.

Note: Design time DOES NOT MATTER. I've spent months and months on a design, and i've spent hours on others. Time isn't something that should cross your mind while doing something creative.. you can't force/time creativity.

Maybe not in art, but it does matter in business. Either way though, 4 hours is hardly a monumental effort.

The dark blue creates a feeling of enclosure. In addition to that, blue is a depressing color, and the grey makes it worse. I would use lighter colors.
